Took my husband and friends to the Board Inn for a birthday dinner last night. The food was fabulous. Portions are large - I had two starters and still couldn't manage the pudding I fancied. All the food was clearly made from fresh good quality produce. It was beautifully cooked and imaginatively presented. Thoroughly recommended

We had probably one of our best Sunday lunches here ever. The food is amazing - really fresh and very generous portions. We had the chicken and the lamb and both were excellent - coming with all the trimmings which were beautifully cooked. Staff were all very welcoming - would highly recommend.

Lovely welcome, and consistently friendly, relaxed service throughout our stay, thanks to manager and staff who know how to treat people well. Room was very small but spaces were ingeniously used to house all manner of treats and equipment. A boiler fault (following a service) meant hot water ran out whilst filling bath. Manager couldn't be more helpful, offering us... More

We stayed in Ash Cottage for 4 days. There were 5 of us and 1 dog. The 'master' bedroom is nice, large room, small bathroom but has the essentials I.e. a toilet and shower. Bed mattress is very lumpy and needs updating. The twin bedroom was nice same small bathroom. The downstairs bedroom is really small, the double bed is... More

Second visit..first was in 2009 and shocking that we've waited this long to go back as we had a fabulous 8 night's here. Stayed in Apple Tree Cottage again which was lovely. Alistair, Karen and the whole Board Inn family make you feel so welcome...such a friendly gang. Food was lovely and we ate there every night...the lamb shank is... More

Wonderful location, fantastic menu that is locally sourced and drinks, you will not go hungry Great hosts. Ask for what accommodation is available as there are rooms and a self contained cottage. Highly recommended. Easy trip into Whitby by the local rail/bus,fantastic location for walks on the moor. We will be back.

Had dinner at The Board Inn. The place is lovely and the service was excellent. The menu looked very good. All four of us had a fish main course and sadly we were all disappointed with the fish - soggy plaice and overcooked haddock. The chips and vegetables were excellent and the desserts were fantastic - the home made ice... More

We were introduced to this by friends of our daughter. Stayed in Ash Cottage, 6 adults 4 dogs, brilliant just a few steps away from the Board Inn run by Karen and Alistair a lovely couple. A great area for walks with our dogs. Tiring them out, so we could enjoy the delicious food at the Board in the evening.... More

Our third visit to The Board Inn. Quite simply you must go here. Karen and Alistair are brilliant hosts nothing is too much trouble. You always get a warm welcome and there are lots of little touches that make a big difference. Lealholm itself is a pretty little village and the Board Inn is the epicentre. Its close to the... More

Have been here a few times and must say have never been disappointed. The place itself is set in a lovely position. Able to sit outside if weather is good. Food is delicious-weather it's a sandwich, Sunday lunch or meal on an evenin. A must if you are in the area
