The very best part of my recent trip to Sri Lanka! I was made very welcome, spotless room, all my washing done, including mending the hole in my trouser pocket, excellent chicken curry with endless small bowls of accompanying vegetables. I had asked for a guide to be booked for a day in Sinharaja rainforest reserve, which was all organised... More

We really enjoyed the rainforest lodge- if there are not any other big groups there it is peaceful and very well run, the hospitality was delightful. We loved the dog (Blacky the sooki sooki doberman!) Rooms are large and very clean. We enjoyed walks around the tea plantations and various local roads giving us an insight in tot he village... More

Nice location, extremely quiet, but the rooms are slightly overpriced. The rooms are not special, the breakfast is poor, but the dinners are quite nice.

I have been three times in Rainforest Lodge and now I must come again every year! All the friends I sent there were delighted. I like the place I like the food, the personal is friendly. I like the path trough the tea plantations, i like the children in the little temil village! Hopfully the prices will not increase too... More

I really liked this cosy place. It’s away from the hustle and good place to stay if you're visiting the rainforest. The rooms are plain but clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. It is run by a family and they are very jolly, especially liked the jolly sister. But what is really cool is the location, its... More

After the noise and energy of Galle and Sri Lanka's bustling south coast the welcoming calm of the rain forest was just the tonic we were looking for. OK so there's a lot of animal activity - the forest buzzes 24 hours a day with the sounds of rich fauna and for the spider and snake fearing there's plenty of... More

This is a lovely clean hotel, but it's just like all the others in sri lanka. We reluctantly moved here because of a problem at Sinharaja Rest. The hotel is 200m from the end of the road, but hey, if you're here to see the rainforest is that really a problem. There's a viewing platform up the hill and if... More

We arrive there and afternoon. Need to walk about 200 meters no access to cars. Some boys of the place tooked our bagage to the rooms. Room clean in the middle of tea plantation and monkeys around. The staff was smiling and gentle all the time. We asked for dinner that they prepare well and tasty (original Sri Lanka food).... More

This family-run guesthouse is in a very peaceful rural setting a short distance from Deniyaya (you have to walk a few hundred metres from the road to get to it). The owners offer something that few other guesthouse managers in Sri Lanka seem to understand the value of: an information folder about local attractions, and integrated day or half-day trips... One of the better places we stayed in Sri Lanka but plenty of scope to make improvements. The rooms appeared as though no guests had been there in decades: lights not working, cobwebs round the switches and dead spiders in the towels. To the owner's credit, I was upgraded when the frog in the room was the final straw. The... More
