This B&B is a real gem you would not expect. The whole house including garden is a symphony of well collected pieces, a warm welcoming home, where you feel welcomed the first moment you enter. The rooms are very spacious, furnished with pieces all fitting together. The garden including the pool with a huge banana tree is placed in a... More

The Domaine de la Carrere is the most beautiful B&B I have ever seen. The house is beautifully decorated and so warm and comforting that you instantly feel at home the minute you walk in. But the warmth of the house does not compare to the warmth of the hosts. Fritz andMike are so warm and welcoming that you will... More

We stayed here to participate in le etape du tour and catch a couple of stages of le tour de France. The house is fabulous with large well equipped rooms and a beautiful garden and swimming pool for the more relaxing part of our stay. But the biggest thank you to Mike and Fitz who looked after us incredibly well... More

What a wonderful experience. Hosts are loverly. Their home is so intesting in its history. Food wow. And so relaxing. The pool is an added bonus. Beds are comfortable the rooms are huge including a separate dressing room and separate bathroom.

This was the best Bed and Breakfast my wife and I have ever stayed in. Wonderful Hosts, amazing home, Fantastic food. If you want to know how to enjoy life please visit. We stayed on two separate occasions (in two different rooms) and can't wait to go back to try a third. A real gem

Fantastic home, hosts and food. Plus it had the best garden and swimming pool we encountered on our tour of south-west France. We were very happy with our room (#4) at the top of the historic house. We stayed 4 nights and having one of their dinners on our first night, persuaded Fritz to cook for two more of them.... More

Just about the best guest house we've stayed in in many years of travel (yet with one of the worst websites - but I'm sure our shrewd hosts know what they're doing!). This historic house is immaculately presented, with a beautiful, well-equipped and spacious bedroom (Room IV, the cheapest I think); the pool area is a delight; and the dinners... More

Well, what can we say about this wonderfully restored Chateau and of course the owners; Mick & Fritz. Firstly, this wonderful Chateau is well worth a visit, a hidden treasure in France. We stayed one night but wanted to stay 14 (at least) This Chateau is immaculately clean, beautiful rooms, wonderful food, top service, beautiful gardens. We managed to catch... More

While the small village of Artez-de-Béarn has little to offer itself, the beautiful Domaine de la Carrere is a real gem and is well-situated for "day-trips" to the Basque Country, the Pyrenees, the lovely city of Pau and Lourdes--all of which we did on our six days here. The property itself is amazing! It's a 15-16th Century manor house, fully... More

We stayed for one night on a return trip to the UK from a week on the Canal du Midi - yes a long way round via Biarritz! We arrived about 4.30 and sat by the pool for a couple of hours (I even had a shower by the pool, with lovely products to use). Had a look round the... More
