Parking outside on street. Nice gentleman met us and sorted out rooms and asked if we would like dinner. Rooms were a mixed bag of very large and very small (no curtains) and small toilet units within. Low windows overlooking outdoor area not suitable for small children, No H & S here. Food good, served by busy waitress who avoided... More

We arrived from Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the ferry on the really rainy day and decided to stay in a hotel rather than camping. We arrived in Carentan and checked in last minute at L'Escapade. The room was good size (room 12) the bathroom was way too small. No shower curtain too. The bed linen was clean but with stains.... More

The food is good, but there is a problem with management here. It is a hotel and restaurant, and the same three girls seem to do everything, from checking guests in and out, serving in the bar, and serving at the tables, and also managing the place. The one had been on duty for at leat 16 hours, and in... More

We thought this would be a great stay before we head to DDay beach in the morning. So we had dinner at there restaurant. I ordered their soup of which they put some type of exlax in it. I had the horrible side effects 2 hours later, couldn't sleep and was feeling horrible for 2 days. After the 2nd day,... More

Small but neat room. Well prices but basic maintenance required. In our room 2 lights not working, wall hooks broken, shower door handle broken, and toilets seat broken. Also window not sealed. Just lack of attention. But nice décoration.

As the sister hotel Auberge Normande was fully booked, me and my colleagues were booked fo our last day in Carentan in L'escapade. What an experience. The hotel can be either called charming or dated, whatever you like. The room I got was most likely smaller than your average prison cell (not that I ever stayed in a prison cell... More

Chose this hotel based on the location and proximity to Dday landing beaches and other historical stuff. The hotel itself is beautiful. The attached restaurant seems to be a local favourite and is full of local people during lunch and dinner service. The food and the service was excellent. The hotel room.... Looked great as we checked in... however the... More

We spent two nights at Hotel L'escapade. The room was a standard room. A very small room with a even smaller bathroom. The bed was ok but other than that the room wasn't very nice. Only one staff member spoke adquate English. The restaurant had only French menus and the food was terrible. I ordered a sausage platter as a... More

I recently stayed here with members of my family on a cycling weekend. We had booked this weeks in advance, stating on the booking we would be arriving with 6 bicycles. On our arrival we were told to leave or bikes outside in the back yard overnight! We were very concerned bout security, so we negotiated, and the only option... More

We stayed as a stop-over between Cherbourg and Paris; I wanted Carentan due to its strong WWII connections, and we wanted a more typical French-style country hotel than something more modern like an Ibis. L'Escapade is situated in the town square, 5 mins walk from the town's little harbour. Despite that, we parked our car right outside the hotel's front... More
