Launceston's premier hotel with a glorious past and an uncertain future Built in the 18th Century it housed French officers in the Napleonic Wars who are responsible for much of the decor in the very attractive hallway and reception area. Well located close to town centre and Norman castle. The room I had was spacious and comfortable and the heating... More

13 members of my family stayed here just before Christmas as we were down visiting our sister and her family. A lovely hotel, with great features and a truly amazing history. The staff were really friendly, Alex on reception was great, full of lots of facts about the hotel and surrounding history which my husband and Dad loved as they... More

I enjoyed my stay in the Eagle this year, we come to the town annually for a Karate course and normally stay in a different hotel. The hotel is far superior and at very similar rates. The rooms are large and well appointed, I guess they need a refresh but are absolutely fine and comfortable.. Good TV and tea making... More

This is the best hotel in Launceston. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is the best I have had in a hotel for a very long time. I have stayed here many times and have probably stayed in most of the rooms. I have never been disappointed! There is plenty of parking outside, and the hotel is a... More

Stayed here with a female friend and loved every minute ! Launceston is an idyllic Cornish market town and the hotel is right next to a derelict castle - there's plenty of interesting church's too - Room was nice with round corner bath big enough for two !!! Room 5 - I communicated with Sophie prior to the stay and... More

I was very lucky that the lovely lady in Tourist Information was a fan and changed my hotel booking so that I was at Eagle House. Breathtaking approach to the building, the brother and sister team are clearly very proud of the heritage, and I was very interested in the history they had to tell. Beautiful, quiet room with an... Myself and 2 friends stayed here a couple of weekends ago as we wanted to go surfing in Widmoth bay, from the moment we arrived it was a pure delight, we were greeted by the larger than life owners who were friendly and clearly very commited. We only stayed 1 night but enjoyed some drinks on the patio followed by... More

As you approach this hotel it has the façade of a very elegant Georgian stately home, and when you walk in the front door it has the same historic elegance. You might even be expecting Mr Darcy to meet and greet you, and yet that early anticipation of something special is soon dashed because there are little things missing, e.g.... More

This was an overnight stay before visiting North Cornwall. The new owners, a brother and sister team, were welcoming and very attentive but clearly realising that this lovely, historic (and quiet) hotel will need considerable modernising. A former residence of French officers from the Napoleonic Wars, will be an asset for future residents in Launceston.
