Having chosen to go here for a special occasion, we duly booked a table for 5 at 7pm on Sunday 22 Feb. The call was made on the same morning. At around 4pm I rang the turnpike to bring the time forward to 6.30 - "no problem" I was told. We arrived at exactly 6.30 only to be turned away... More

Nice atmosphere quickly seated, main meals took a while to arrive food was nice and well priced, staff where friendly and even offered a drink on the house for a party members 18th birthday, only downfall was the waiting time and didn't knock off the 25% offer until prompted twice

We met some friends here for an evening meal, we were greeted and seated in quick succession, our friends joined us shortly after, we ordered and the meals came in good time, plates were warm this time (i complained last time) and service was good but we still needed to "ask" for sauces, steak knives and extra drinks.... once again... Good quality of food and nicely presented. This pub tries hard to present itself as a slightly more upmarket venue and prices the food accordingly. We have no problem with this and thoroughly enjoyed our light lunches. They have nice real ales on as well. On the day we called there was snow on the M62 and we came off... More

The Turnpike is a pub directly on a minor A road on the West Yorkshire moors. Easy to find and scenic location looking out over a reservoir, with the hills and M62 snaking across them in the distance. The rooms appear to be relatively recently refurbished/built. Nicely decorated, comfortable and clean, Reasonable size and modern, spotless bathroom. Room at front... More

I stayed at the Turnpike Inn following attending a wedding reception on the 24/1/15. The turnpike is a quaint establishment set in idillic surroundings. Staff are warm and welcoming and the service was exceptional. My room was clean and comfortable, would definitely stay again.

I am currently staying in the hotel, first night and immediately after checking in to the room I have ever noticed a dirty toilet, with faecal matter staining not only the inside bowl but on the underneath of the toilet, where your legs are (?!) it's disgusting. The bath is dirty with the previous occupants hair all over the bath,... More

Looking for somewhere different but still relatively local, we booked a meal here on a Saturday evening. Chose guinea fowl, but asked for veg instead of cassoulet, which didn't appeal. Meal arrived. Loads of veg with guinea fowl plonked in top. OK..... asked for gravy as no sauce. Veg wasn't just al dente, it was raw. When asked if everything... More

Three of us visited for dinner. The restaurant was reasonably busy but we were greeted at the door and found a table easily. The food exceeded my expectations - a tasty salmon starter and then a generous and well-cooked sirloin steak. The others in my party both agreed it was decent, honest pub food, with good presentation. Service was friendly... More

I don't often get to see my sister so I thought I'd book a table for our little christmas get together.....how that was a mistake! From the minute we walked in it wasn't the best, we were placed at a table with the sun shinning in our eyes, to the point we couldn't see. we asked for the curtains to... More
