We were in Yorkshire for a family reunion. Had eaten lunch at this place about a year ago and when searching for place to stay this came up. Stayed one night (Saturday/Sunday). Had room number 1 at the back -- more than adequate with flat screen tv (only few channels) and good wi-fi reception. Copious breakfast but a little slow... More

Special Father's Day visit based on previous great meal experience a year or so ago. Meals were very slow in coming out - not a problem if freshly made but on this case we had: Fish and chips - slimy luke warm fish with spongy batter, luke warm peas and dry chunky chips. Beef dinner - rock hard roast potatoes,... More

Saturday evening 7 pm we called in and asked if they could fit six of us in for dinner. We were told they could if we coukd be out by 8 pm. By 7.20 we had no drinks much less food with three staff members completely ignoring us. Eventually caught their eye and ordered drinks. At 7.30 all the drinks... More

We had Sunday lunch here today and the place was just wonderful !! The Management and Staff couldn't do enough to accommodate us for lunch even though we didn't book and they were busy. Our food was delicious and really tasty and they even brought us a bowl of water for our border terrier -without us asking! The drinks were... More

we went here just for a meal, the food was good, but it was busy so service was a bit slow as they didn't have many staff on, but the staff were very nice, the price was ok and we would go again, it is a lovely pub.

I met a friend here for a catch up over a meal and was disappointed with the food. The Turnpike is really nicely decorated and has a decent menu but the food didn't wuite match up to this. We ordered the baked Camembert to share to start with but they had sold out. We had to change our order and... More

I'd always wondered what the pub was like on the far side of the reservoir as I crossed the M62 and I found out over Easter. In a word, very nice. I know that's two words but not to worry. The accommodation is very comfortable - book the superior double room if you can and the food and beer very... More

I'd been to this bar before for drinks so organised to meet a group of friends there for an evening meal. The food was very tasty but unfortunately we were all still hungry after eating as the portions were so tiny. As the prices are quite high I expected a lot more from the food. I won't be eating here... More
