We travelled up to Northumberland to have dinner at the treehouse at Alnwick castle and discovered the 'Old School House' online with great reviews and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed by Kath and Malcolm who are perfect hosts, with tea and ginger cake in the lounge. Bedrooms are very comfortable and the place is spotless. Breakfast the next... more

I love it when a treat that you've looked forward to turns out be better than expected. Malcom and Kath are running an exellent b&b. A fresh pot of tea in the lounge on arrival is the start of a wonderful stay. The rooms are of the highest standard and the breakfasts are fantastic and plentyful. Situated 5 miles south... more

We stayed after attending the graduation of our daughter. Based on previous stays at various B&Bs I already had formed a negative perception so much so that I avoid ALL B&Bs wherever possible. However, after staying at the Old School I have changed my opinion completly. My experience of B&Bs tended to be dowdy, depressing, old, musty smelling rooms, bedsprings... more

A peaceful b&b with lovely gardens and very friendly hosts. The breakfasts are amazing - so much choice, make sure you bring a big appetite! We stayed in room 3 which really nice, cosy with nice modern touches. If we were returning to the area would definitely stay again. more

Myself and hubbie have just returned from our long weekend away at The Old School. We really wanted to recommend Malcolm and Kaths B and B as it is like no other we have stayed in. From the warm welcome on our arrival, the amazing locally sourced breakfasts and modern thoughtfully laid out rooms make your stay even more memorable.... more

We love Northumberland and my husband's mum was born in Newcastle upon Tyne so we are often in the region. This is the second 5 star B&B we have tried in the area and it is fantastic and totally deserves the 5 stars. Kath and Malcolm welcomed us as soon as we parked and helped with bags and suitcases. Coffee,... more

This B&B is simply lovely. We stayed in room 2 which was very clean and had everything we needed. It even had a emergency tin in the drawer including things we might have forgotten ... cotton wool, tweezers etc. A lovely touch. There was fresh coffee available and chilled bottled water. The breakfasts were lovely and the owners lovely and... more

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. We had room 2 which was the only room available when we booked. It wasn't huge, but nicely funished, and the window looked out onto the lovely garden, so it felt very private. It was very comfortable and clean and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The best thing about... more

I've stayed in a lot of B & B's but this place was amazing. Kath or Malcolm were incredibly nice and welcoming, we arrived on Friday after a 6 hour car ride to Malcom offering to take our bags inside and Kath standing at the door to welcome us. Our room was immaculate with modern furnishings - and after offering... more

our stay at old school house came courtesy of a treat from friends for a 50th birthday otherwise we would never have come across it...fortunately their judgement, having stayed there before, equalled ours and we were treated to a fantastic two day stay. The guest house itself is in pristine condition and cannot be faulted, excellent gardens, good parking, welcoming... more
