We stopped for a night having been shooting at Bywell and we found this to be a great little spot. We enjoyed a few drinks in the beer garden before getting ready for a delicious meal. The food and service was really good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was topped off with a delicious breakfast which set us... More

Stayed here for 3 nights, for the second time in 4 months. Staff were all very friendly, breakfasts and evening meals delicious and the rooms spacious and clean. We came with relatives and had connecting doors between the rooms which was nice. Newton on the Moor is a very quiet location, but just off the A1, so it is handy... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. We were made very welcome as soon as we walked through the front door all the staff are really friendly. We had a lovely evening meal the best steak pie I have had in a long while, the Eton Mess was delicious. Rooms very nice and comfortable. Would definitely return here again.

We stayed here for just one night on our way to a friend's wedding. It looked really inviting when we arrived with lots of colourful hanging baskets outside a very traditional looking pub. There is no reception area in the hotel, so we were advised before arriving to head to the bar area where we were quickly shown to our... More

just got home from this establishment after having a meal where the food was to the highest standard and service very good the company we were with also commented on the quality of food, When I think where we ate last week for £14 less it was well worth paying that little bit extra tonight as it worked out cheaper... My husband's Mum had heard about the oap/ lunch deal from friends/relatives. We were on holiday this week so we decided to take her there for lunch on Wednesday. Hubby and I have been in the evening before but not for lunch. Anyway it took us ages to choose two courses each from a very nice menu and the food... More

My wife and me decided to try the cook and barker after many years of hearing great reviews and seeing fellow travellers comments. The cook and barker is just off the A1 at the junction for Newton on the moor, and is mins from the turning, easy to find, and plenty of parking and outside seating area lovely setting and... More

this place is nice and peaceful, when we arrived we had to wait our turn at the bar to be given our room key( no reception) given general directions to the room in the annex...having found it we were pleasantly surprised by the newness of the room, plenty of space, very very clean and well appointed and being on the ground... Wow this is a busy place. Considering the lack of immediate chimney pots the restaurant was packed. First the moan. The service was initially very good but as the place filled up it was obvious the staff where under some pressure. The other thing that became apparent was how many tables they crammed in there. I was nudged on numerous... More
