My husband and I stayed overnight for dinner, bed and breakfast to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, the whole experience was fantastic. The staff are always pleasant and helpful but most of all the food is amazing. I would highly recommend a visit even if just for lunch!

We visit quite often, always really quite good, food presented well, and staff mainly very nice and helpful, unfortunately I don't think it as good as used to be, menu was somewhat limited if you didn't fancy fish, we will no doubt be back to try again soon.

The liver pate was exceptional best part of the meal, the beer was very good, has a good selection of beer and wine, and my main course lovely. Good value. staff pleasant and helpful. This pub is a handy distance from A1 and very easy to get to well worth a stop.

Haven't been here for a couple of years but it was always excellent. Today the food was worse than a run of the mill pub! We both ordered the crab bisque. Yes it was ok but obviously made with the brown crab meat! Not rich and creamy like you would expect a bisque to be. Followed by a sandwich, which... More

We recently booked an overnight stay at the cook and barker we are return guests and we're excited to learn that they had a new suite on offer, we made dinner reservations also and our package included breakfast. We arrived at 4pm and booked in with a friendly barman who showed us up to the suite, we were delighted with... More

We used this place as a base to explore the local area. It worked out well. The room was good great bed good size good bathroom. It was kept clean and tidy. The bar snacks were good and the breakfast was very good. We had one evening meal here which was quite expensive I had scallops with black pudding which... More

My husband and I stayed at the Cook and Barker with my parents for one night over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. We arrived earlier than expected, and before the official check in time, but the friendly member of staff behind the bar informed us that one of our rooms was ready for us, and gave us the key allowing... Stayed here 3 nights over Easter and it was great. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and with ample bedding and the bathroom was big and the water piping hot. The breakfast menu was extensive and varied and we stayed in 1 night for an evening meal which was excellent. The staff were all pleasant and let us store our bikes... More

We were there for a 3 night stay. The room was lovely - ground floor, well appointed and elegantly furnished. The food here is superb, with a good menu and everything was really amazing. Staff are very friendly and the area is beautiful. Well worth a visit.

my husband and I used to visit this pub regularly 17 years ago so when we were given the opportunity of leaving our teenagers at home we decided to return and make an overnight stay. Have to say I was not bowled over with the room and the view of the car park. However the food and the bar and... More
