We were looking forward to our two night getaway at Tarraleah Lodge. We enjoyed our stay, the hospitality was good but it was not value for money. We paid $798 for a two night package. Firstly, no hot breakfast - it was muesli and toast. A big selection, but if you wanted hot you needed to head down to the... More

The lodge is located in Tarraleah which is a former village of the Hydro Tasmania construction workers and has been perfectly renovated within the recent years. Our host, Christine, told us plenty of stories about the life back in those days since she grew up in that village. The accommodation definitely profits from her great personality and her caring attitude.... More

While we stayed at a Villa nearby on the same estate, we will be staying in the Lodge next visit. It is superb. Christine, the hostess, showed us through and explained the service and facilities. The decor is just fabulous and the setting quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Guests are given the red carpet treatment with access to food and drink.... More

We stayed only for one night [ unfortunately] on our way between the west coast and Hobart - what a find!. The lodge has been beautifully restored to an understated deco luxury. A great place to unwind. Lovely hosts and great amenities.

We stayed here one night while on a bike tour round Tasmania. Our room is the lodge was sensational and very indulgent. We loved it. But what we didn't expect was the fascinating history of the village bought to life by the manager there, Christine. Her first hand experience and lively personality made our experience all the more perfect.

One night's stay here definitely isn't enough if you want to explore the area thoroughly, but for us the Lodge offered a wonderful break from the long drive to the West Coast. Our room was spacious and inviting, with a super comfortable king size bed. The adjoining bathroom had the added luxury of spa bath, heated floor & towels. We... More

We didn't know quite what to expect when we booked one of the engineer's cottages. It has 3 bedrooms but the 3rd was squashed in the back and not very nice. Aside from that, the rest of the cottage was very spacious and provision for heating adequate. The kitchen is big but bare - as in there are no provisions... More

Tarraleah is one of the best surprises of our trip. The remains of an original hydro town have been transformed into an eclectic and beautifully detailed and restored selection of accommodation, from the beautiful camping area to the magnificent and luxurious lodge. This is one man's dream - one owner has overseen this restoration - and it is a great... More
