We stayed in the little private self contained garden cabin which had a bed, chairs and table and a small bathroom and outside on a deck with a wonderful view was a BBQ. There is a fridge, microwave and basic utensils but I suggest that you bring supplies as there is only a very basic supermarket.

First and foremost, the best part of this B&B / Homestay is the hospitality by Maureen and Angus. They are wonderful hosts and sure made this a pleasurable experience. They have a great view of the bay and a beautiful property. This is THE place to stay if you are heading to Farewell Spit.

Stayed here on our way back from Farewell Spit and Wharariki Beach. We arrived in Collingwood in the dark and, after seeking directions, found our way up the hill to Angus and Maureen's house. This is very definitely a 'homestay' and we were welcomed in like old friends.

We really enjoyed our brief, 2 night stay with Angus at Herons rest....his wife was away for a few days and so we didnt get to meet her. Clearly Angus is the ultimate host..a warm welcome and our room was perfectly situated to view the Harbour of Collingwood...Generous continental breakfasts and a Muesli recipe that I had to have..and indeed...
