This is a remote super luxury lodge that is in the wilderness. This is a time for you to visit and step out of the world and really experience middle earth. This place is lovingly put together, a joyous family and super well taken care of. The sense of SPACE everywhere, the facilities ( Indoor pool, Jacuzzi, Massage) the outdoor... More

After finding the retreat for our anniversary and getting there we were not disappointed. A great suite, pool, spa, and lovely meals, walks and quad bike rides AND the views, who could ask for more. A working farm to walk around and tracks everywhere

To stay at Westhaven Cottages is to withdraw from the busyness of life and have time to just enjoy the simple things in life. The scenery is spectacular, there are so many walking tracks to choose from, taking you into untouched New Zealand. Monica and her family made our stay, they are so friendly and helped you feel relaxed from... More

As a visitor to New Zealand this has to be on the “must do” list. Nowhere else will you see such spectacular scenery, enjoy such attentive service and be in such a beautiful remote spot. Look up “Westhaven Retreat” on YouTube to get a better idea-and please if you planning to be anywhere near the top of the South Island... More

This is probably the most spectacular lodge we have stayed at in NZ, and certainly one of the most amazing settings of anywhere we have ever stayed in the world. Yes, the journey is long (but adventurous and fun), and the c 25km of gravel tracks would have been more comfortable with a 4WD vehicle, but when you get there,... More

My wife and I just spent several days at Westhaven in mid-April. What a gem! The lodge is set on a spectacular 1000 acres and has every luxury. We took a fun half day sea kayack tour, hiked several of the trails and just relaxed. The family proprieters could not have been nicer and more attentive. Food was also very... More

We began our honeymoon at Westhaven and do not think we can put into words how incredible everything was. It was like being on another planet. The most beautiful scenery you have ever seen, you can hike for hours and hours to different beaches, cliffs, tropical forests and rolling hills (all owned by westhaven) and so quiet. The hosts were... More

For Christmas 2013/2014, which we spend 18'596 km away from home, we were looking for a special location. It had to be peaceful, in the middle of nature but with all luxury, good food and hosts running their Lodge with a mix of professionalism and passion. What we found in Westhaven was by far exceeding our expectations (and it is... More

My wife and I will be departing tomorrow following a 2 night stay. Once you are in Golden Bay and pass through Nelson then Collingwood you must find a mostly gravel road up to the Lodge. Let me begin by saying the experience at Westhaven is worth the work to get here. The facility which was constructed by the family... More

West Haven Luxury Lodge, West Hell is more like it. In addition to meeting this lovely three generation family, you may stay in a well-appointed beautiful lodge, and yes, the views are quite pretty. What is not clear on the nicely produced website are a few important details. The road to this place is a nightmare of hairpin turns, on... More

Dear Madam, I am so sorry you felt this way. Your husband was not fully informed (did not read thoroughly) about the road, which is described in detail, with photos on the webpage and in directions we especially sent to you. The road is SAFE and very well maintained. It is regular School Bus Route. When you arrived, you were... More
