We, like many others here had taken advantage of their £99 B&B deal designed to fill the hotel. The hotel is stepped back in the 1920s -30s. It is a fairly nice place but shows its age and tiredness in every corner. It was snowing when we arrived and the reception dealt with us swiftly. In the main lounge and... More

We booked for two nights on our 20th anniversary through a deal with travelzoo The hotel itself is on the road from Keswick to Bassenthwaite and it's over looks the lake and mountains it is a lovely view. The weather wasn't that kind to us with, showers, hail, snow and high winds, but nonetheless it didn't stop venturing out onto... More

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights and booked it through a deal on travel zoo. The hotel was easy to find and is in a gorgeous location. On a fairly main road but set back with beautiful views over lake bassenthwaite. The welcome from the member of staff was very friendly and the decor inside... More

We stayed here for two nights on a b&b basis during the half term break in a room for three with an additional z bed for one of the children. There was plenty of space, a lovely bathroom with underfloor heating and amazing views across Bassenthwaite Lake. We walked up Skiddaw on the first day amid the clouds and snow... More

Stayed here on weekend break deal. We had a fantastic big room with a four poster and amazing views. Cosy bar with board games, battle ships at one table, connect four at the bar and a cribbage contest!! The food was ok. All staff were pleasant. A great base for walking and visiting other places. Great for the price we... More

We stayed here for a weekend break. The hotel is a pleasant and our stay was enjoyable. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and enjoyed the meal. It was reasonably priced and a satisfactory standard. Breakfast was adequate. There was a good choice of cooked breakfasts although my request for soft poached eggs on toast was not... More

Stayed for 2 nights midweek. Lovely view from room at front of hotel, very clean and the bonus of underfloor heating in the bathroom. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Ate in the restaurant second night, the food was excellent. The location is great would definitely revisit.

Stayed for a one night stay midweek and it was excellent. Room was clean and comfy and the bathroom was lovely. The staff were great and very friendly as you come to expect in Cumbria. Lovely country hotel, cosy room with lovely new bathroom. Great views and ideal location for travelling around the Lakes. We used the restaurant on both evenings and the food was of excellent quality and well cooked, only downside is that there is no steak on the menu !! Excellent breakfast also. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely revist.

My sister and I stayed here for a couple of nights last weekend and we would definately visit again. All the staff were really friendly, the hotel is cosy with real fires and wood panelling everywhere. Our ensuite had underfloor heating which was the cherry on top!
