Where to begin? I currently live in Calgary, Canada and was visiting the UK with my wife, 4year old son and 4 month old daughter. The purpose of our visit to introduce our new daughter to the family back home. I’m originally from the North East, therefore after a couple of nights rest in London we decided to travel north... A colleague had told me about The Pheasant before our holiday to the Lakes. I had forgotten, but we were coming down the A66 from Cockermouth and it was well sign posted. We dropped in and had the most sumptuous creme tea, with rum creme ! The staff were very pleasant so we came back for dinner on our final evening.... More

A good hotel in excellent location on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake. The food was good and the bedroom very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. However we felt it was slightly overpriced.

I live about 19 miles from the pheasant inn and have past it a thousand times but decided to call in on our way home .we got their about six o'clock just as the bistro was opening so it was still quiet and plenty of room all the food we had was excellent especially the sticky toffee pudding and the... If your looking for a characterful Lakeland experience then this is the place. Rooms are beautiful and traditional. Gardens are delightful. Food in the bistro was plentiful and tasteful. We were a party of 18 staying for an intimate wedding reception. Everything was perfect. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating especially Lewis, Miguel and a special mention for Alison. Can't... More

Stayed here for 1 night whilst attending a wedding at Armathwaite Hall who wanted to charge an extortionate rate and no discount for wedding guests. So glad I booked here, beautiful location and a charming old Inn full of character. Breakfast second to none. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Perfect venue close to all attractions but away from the tourist hustle and bustle. 5 star comfort and coziness, outstandingly helpful staff, no parking problems and surely one of the most beautiful spring gardens in the area.

We had dinner at the Pheasant last night as it had been recommended to us. The starters were good but the haddock and chips we both ordered at £14 each was over priced for the quality we received, soggy batter and tasteless fish. We were also charged a cover charge of £2:50 each that we don't understand.

We popped in for an afternoon coffee which we had in the bar (which has fantastic old world charm!) and were pleased to be served homemade shortbread with our coffee. Having looked at the dinner menu we reserved a table for dinner that night in the bistro. The food was of high standard. The chicken & leek pie was particularly... More

After a long days walk went to the bistro and had a great meal, good atmosphere, good service and really good value for money. The menu catered for all tastes and was inventive and different from the standard menus you would normally find in the lakes. Definitely will go back with the family next time we are in the lakes
