We stayed here for two nights and had a really relaxing stay. The open fires gave a superb feel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the bistro both nights and had good food with reasonably priced wine. We used the passes for the spa and had a very nice afternoon in the pool, steam and... More

Stopped for lunch while heading north through the Lake District. The bar areas were old and rustic but staff were sometimes difficult to find as they seemed to be all busy getting ready for lunch. The lunch we had was good, nothing special and we were disappointed that we couldn't have a Devonshire tea - cakes etc not being available... More

The Pheasant is close to boat rides and scenic walks, but what impressed us most was the staff. They went out of their way to answer our questions, give directions, and generally make us feel as at-home as possible. We stayed in Applethwaite and found the room to be incredibly comfortable. The lounges warmed by fireplaces and the pub with... More

Loved the traditional bar and a truly belting pint of Hawkshead. Amy was really friendly and attentive and the food (fish & chips) was really, really good. Staff in the restaurant were pleasant if a little forgetful. On the whole an enjoyable evening. *miserable niggle; outside of the restaurant and bar, the other rooms are a little odd in terms... What a gorgeous location The Pheasant Inn is nestled in,conveniently situated just off the A66,but hidden away and beautifully secluded. The bar and restaurant were both very busy with visitors from the fells attempting to blow away the festive cobwebs, but the courteous and friendly staff were only to happy to accommodate us. Scotch eggs, chicken pies, fish and chips, risotto, and pea soup all... More

We have been going to the Pheasant for many years, sometimes we visit 2/3 times. per year. We stayed 3 nights just before Christmas and we ate in the Bistro 3 nights and never disappointed, great food/drink, followed by coffee in front of log fires in the lounges. Superb English breakfast and a lovely, friendly bar. Didn't do much walking,... More

The only downside to The Pheasant Inn is it is slightly off the beaten track for the lakes A list places but to some that would be an advantage and Keswick is only ten minutes drive away. We stayed here for two nights in the pet friendly room which was very luxurious with a nice sized bed. The staff are... More

We have just had the best weekend at The Pheasant! The building is a lovely old inn with comfy seats, large comfy bedroom, huge welcoming bed, nicely appointed bathroom with a never ending supply of hot water. Everything was nipping clean, large towels and robes provided. The breakfasts were a selection of cold buffet of cereals and/or hot food which... More

We visited the Pheasant Inn with our family who live in Cumbria, who come to the Pheasant on a weekly basis! we were visiting from Suffolk. Our first visit to this wonderful Inn. We had a light lunch which was so well presented, very tasty, and very reasonably priced too. The staff were so lovely, very attentive and polite. It... More

We had a really lovely night at The Pheasant, which is a gorgeous pub tucked away just off the A66 near Bassenthwaite. We ate in the main restaurant which carried a cover charge if £2.50 each but included an amuse bouche and fantastic homemade bread rolls. The Service was cheery and efficient and the food very good. Others had expressed... More
