Great food but charging £2,50 per head ambiance charge was a joke. This was for supossedly superior restaurant and we thought it was just average. This was also for the views of fells but to make matters worse we dined in the evening and could not see a thing. Im sure if they persist charging £5 per couple this will... More

I visited the pheasant inn last Easter with my parents when they came up to carlisle to visit me. We happened upon in while we were on a walk and stopped for a few drinks. We then went back later on that day for afternoon tea, which was delicious. After that my Mom requested that we went there again on... More

During our tour of the Lakes we spotted a sign for the Pheasant Inn just as we were about to join the main road by Bassenthwaite Lake and decided to stop off for our lunch. The place is set back from the main road so you feel like you are nthe middle of nowehere. The garden to the side is... More

Our Wedding Anniversary falls on New Years Day, and we were looking for somewhere to stay without paying the usual New Year package prices. This lovely place was recommended to us and we weren't dsappointed. We arrived on 1st January in torrential rain and stayed for 2 nights in a wonderfully warm and cosy retreat. Our standard room was lovely,... More

The hotel is set just at the foot of Wythop Woods and just off the A66. It is nestled in a wonderful setting. We were looking for a few days walking and cycling but the weather wasn't too kind. However the service throughout the hotel made the stay very enjoyable. As an older building it has a few quirks but... More

We called off the main A66 road down a small wooded side road which was originally the main road to find the pleasantly situated Pheasant Inn - good parking, picturesque and looking like a traditional English coaching inn. We looked first in the snug to the left of the entrance which was prettty much lke stepping back 200 years with... More

My husband and I stayed overnight here whilst visiting the newly opened Lakes Distillery. The Inn is very quaint and atmospheric with lots of nooks and crannies and comfy chairs and sofas. We had a standard double room ,which, whilst small, was perfectly adequate.Very comfortable bed and pillows.Good powerful shower, fluffy towels and Moulton Brown toiletries. The staff were very affable and efficient.we... More

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend break at the Pheasant, with excellent food and attentive staff. Our room was warm and comfortable and the bathroom well supplied with piping hot water and a lovely big bath, but oh the décor -both the bedroom and bathroom were in desperate need of refurbishment. Little things that took the edge of the visit

We recently stayed at The Pheasant recently after having dinner there on a previous visit to the area. The hotel exceeded all expectations - the room was lovely, the piping hot water in an extra-long bath divine and the staff friendly. The food was excellent - we enjoyed the full English breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. I would recommend paying... More

Lovely place to stay in Bassenthwaite. The Staff were helpful and accommodating. and food lovely. Room nice but sadly bathroom and decor were very tired and in need of a upgrade. Otherwise would have been perfect.
