Lovely place to stay in Bassenthwaite. The Staff were helpful and accommodating. and food lovely. Room nice but sadly bathroom and decor were very tired and in need of a upgrade. Otherwise would have been perfect.

Stayed for a long weekend. Room was comfortable, clean and warm. Beds very comfortable. Excellent bathroom with very good shower and copious hot water. Bar was atmospheric and the locals were keen to engage in conversation. We enjoyed the log fires. We ate in the bistro and the food was top quality, well presented and the waiting staff excellent.

Basics all perfect: Cleanliness, super plumbing, excellent full English brekky and quiet spot, but the Pheasant has loads more added value: relaxed while efficient friendly staff in all departments. A proper pub within its precincts with more 'olde worlde' character than 99% of British pubs plus good real ale (Try the 'Cumberland Corby'). The lounge areas have two roaring fires... More

We stayed here for two nights and had a really relaxing stay. The open fires gave a superb feel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the bistro both nights and had good food with reasonably priced wine. We used the passes for the spa and had a very nice afternoon in the pool, steam and... More

Stopped for lunch while heading north through the Lake District. The bar areas were old and rustic but staff were sometimes difficult to find as they seemed to be all busy getting ready for lunch. The lunch we had was good, nothing special and we were disappointed that we couldn't have a Devonshire tea - cakes etc not being available... More

The Pheasant is close to boat rides and scenic walks, but what impressed us most was the staff. They went out of their way to answer our questions, give directions, and generally make us feel as at-home as possible. We stayed in Applethwaite and found the room to be incredibly comfortable. The lounges warmed by fireplaces and the pub with... More

Loved the traditional bar and a truly belting pint of Hawkshead. Amy was really friendly and attentive and the food (fish & chips) was really, really good. Staff in the restaurant were pleasant if a little forgetful. On the whole an enjoyable evening. *miserable niggle; outside of the restaurant and bar, the other rooms are a little odd in terms... What a gorgeous location The Pheasant Inn is nestled in,conveniently situated just off the A66,but hidden away and beautifully secluded. The bar and restaurant were both very busy with visitors from the fells attempting to blow away the festive cobwebs, but the courteous and friendly staff were only to happy to accommodate us. Scotch eggs, chicken pies, fish and chips, risotto, and pea soup all... More
