Stayed here with eh family 2 nights for a wedding in the area. When we arrived Fri night the place was buzzing - really happy busy atmosphere, and lots of folks enjoying what looked like great food, and filling the large beer garden. Despite the busy bar, check in was efficient and friendly. The rooms are in a separate block... More

I have now stayed at the Swan twice, in one of their double rooms. I find the Swan comfortable its local to where I visit family and its only a couple of steps away from the railway station which makes life so easy. Thatcham town is only about fifteen minutes walk away and a lovely stroll from the hotel, though... More

Had a great stay here. Food was good and hot along with a nice cool pint. Breakfast was also enjoyable. No problems with the accommodation nice and clean. yes it is close to the large beer garden so expect a little noise but not a problem. Staff where all friendly and helpful. Will be staying again next year to break... More

This Marstons pub is in a great location, right near the train station. Very nice food, quick, but it felt like they were trying to make pub food into posh pub food. I had my Burger served on a wooden block, and my chips served in a cup ?? just serve it on a plate and be done with it... More

Myself, wife and 3 girls visited on a recommendation from a friend and we weren't disappointed. My wife had a steak, perfectly cooked to her liking and I had a steak burger, one of the best I've had (I've had a lot of burgers). Good food and although it was late in the service and there wasn't a lot of... More

For a large group of friends to meet up on a sunny day this was a great venue. But if you are someone who knows what real home cooked food tastes like, then avoid the food here. Very bland and my sister was violently ill afterwards! The head waitress was not good at receiving complaints, but all the other staff... More

Avoid if you can , Not the greatest of locations but could be a good pub if a few details were attended to, ie cleanliness , being made to feel welcome , and just overall shabbiness , foods not that great either while I'm at it. Will be voting with my feet, hope you do too.

We stayed at The Swan for two nights when we went to Newbury Races. A group of 7 of us, arrived just before 9 on the Friday. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were warm, clean and comfy - no complaints. I actually liked the fact the rooms were not attached to the pub. We had dinner both Friday... More

This is not a cosy country pub. It is situated on a busy road by a roundabout. I arrived to offhand staff and to realise the tiny room in the 'stable block' opened directly onto the car park. There was a big coconut mat set into the floor and no bolt or chain on the door. There was no soundproofing... More

Hello Mr Annoyed! Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are disappointed you had the impression you were to be staying in an idyllic country pub, we do not advertise ourselves as that, we quite openly advise we are close to Business parks and Thatcham rail station. Alongside that the rooms are again advised to be in... More
