The hotel is in the small village of Madremanya. The building is of local stone and has a quirky layout with lots of steps and ramps to negotiate. There is a lift but it could be awkward for the less agile. That said I absolutely loved it! All the rooms have names and are individually decorated. Some have balconies with... More

We were part of a group and spent two nights at the hotel. Our room was exceptionally large and part of a very old building. The bathroom was large but had poor lighting and lacked a shower which would have been nice after a very active day. The other problem was that there was no way to turn out room... More

Our two night stay was part of a cycling tour. It's a great, quiet hotel in a little town. Our room was spacious, quaint and comfortable. It included a lovely balcony with great views, a large living room with couch and table. The bed was pretty hard but it's a quaint and a bit rustic location so that is to... More

We stayed at La Placa one night, but it was spectacular. The hotel is exquisite - full of charm and character (especially if you get the junior suite with the balcony) and the restaurant puts La Placa over the top. Some of the best food we experienced in Catalonia.

We found this place through Internet websites and planned our wedding through emails. We were amazed by the stunning location and fell in love with the entire scenery. A beautiful place, in a small village, where we found people passionate about food and hospitality. We will definitely recommend it and will go back soon!

Several old village houses have been knocked together (very tastefully) to create this hotel, so that cobbled streets run inside the building. Rooms are stylish and superbly equipped. The elegant restaurant spreads itself through two stone-vaulted rooms. Even the swimming pool is stone built with not a blue tile to be seen. Staff are warmly friendly, most speak good English,... We have been regular visitors to the Girona region for over 25 years and have stayed in may wonderful hotels, eaten in remarkable restaurants and enjoyed the superb coastal villages and countryside. There is so much to choose from and enjoy – yet, EVERY time we return we must visit Madremanya, eat at the superb La Plaça restaurant and sometimes... More

A warm welcome awaits the guest who ventures into this little gem in the quaint town of Madremanya. Contemporary design is somehow interlaced with this centuries-old building and is pulled off nicely in the common areas as well as the bedrooms and suites. Some will be lucky enough to have a wood burning fireplace (a nice addition in November). There... More

Had 2 rooms. One with a terrace was lovely and spacious with a seating area. Our other room was super white and tastefully decorated. Everything was scrupliously clean and fresh. The receptionist could not have been more helpful. The dinner on our first night was exceptional: exciting and unusual like seaweed rice crackers to nibble and olives dipped in jellied... More

The restaurant part of this hotel I have reviewed separately because it has it's own character and ambience. The hotel side is fine for a short stay without matching the delights of the restaurant. In a building full of medieval nooks and crannies, the rooms are clean and functional. The staff are friendly and helpful in a rural kind of... More
