For our honeymoon I didn't want the typical resort, but wanted to feel like we had discovered our own little paradise - swimming, cabanas, coconuts...the whole deal. The price is absolutely fantastic and we ended up eating nearly all our meals in the restaurant, which came out to be very affordable. Even though it rained a couple of the days,... more

Patrick, who runs this amazing hideaway simply wants you to have a great vacation. In addition, his food was amazing, I mean, truly the best - as good as you would find in a high end, 5 star restaurant. So tasty! When we got the bill, it was also so inexpensive! We felt like we ate like kings and queens!... more

I just came back from two weeks at Los Gringos. It was the most peaceful and relaxing vacation I've ever had. The place is not for everyone: there's no air conditioning or nightlife, and the cabanas, although charming and clean, are basic. We spent our days watching the water and the sky...sunbathing, walking the beach, reading, lingering over delicious meals,... more

We spent a week at Los Gringos with the family in January 2008 and we really had such a wonderful time. Patrick and Steve are the best hosts we have ever met. They treated us like if we were at home, like royalty. Just imagine going to a restaurant and the owner asking you what would you like to eat... more

When we first researched where to stay while in the DR, we found only large or all-inclusive hotels. We were thrilled to find Los Gringos instead. Patrick and Steve and their friendly helpful staff made our stay 100% relaxing-- it was a perfect vacation, from the laid-back but completely accommodating atmosphere to the serene, secluded beach and the excellently prepared... more

Excellent location.- Its set in a small town on the north coast, remote enough to be quiet and close enough to not be a pain to get to. It takes a good hour from the puerto plata airport, or 4 hours from the santo domingo airport, or 2 hours from santiago. The cabanas are set right on the beach and... more

Who hasn't dreamed of a remote thatched roof bungalow on a tropical beach? However, when I saw the website for Los Gringos and read the reviews on this site and others, I was leary to say the least that this place would live up to my expectations for a mere $150 for 3 nights. It was great....I only wish I... more

This was one of the best vacation spots of my life. The cabanas were great, clean and confortable with plenty of room for company and hot showers, rare for the Dominican Republic. The manager Patrick is a world class chef and I had the best filet mignon I've ever had. They also cooked sheep on an open grill the Sunday... more

I found this little gem of a beach resort through some friends who saw it being renovated. There are 3 wonderful new thatched cabanas, GriGri, Seagrape and Hummingbird, directly on a beautiful sweep of sand called Magante, where you can walk for miles. Each cabana sleeps 4, with tiled, en-suite facilities and HOT showers. Room rates are very reasonable based... more
