We had a midweek evening meal at this pub. Although the atmosphere was good with a lovely fire on a cold night, the pub was so dark that we had difficulty reading the menu or seeing any of the food on the plate. The menu was varied and the food tasty but of a relatively small quantity. prices were on... More

I stayed here alone in early December 2014 for a work trip. At the time of first booking, I used their website to make an enquiry about availability and it stated there was a small room available for £100. When I rang to make the booking, I was told the room was £120. This was over my work budget so... More

this over-rated pub is one of our locals but we rarely go there. However my friend wanted a change for her birthday so we thought we'd give it another chance - maybe the food had improved we thought. However I paid £12 for an unimaginative vegetarian option that was the size of a starter (no exaggeration). It consisted of three... More

I highly recommended the The Bull in Ditching. Atmosphere: cosy open fire & beautifully decorated Food: delicious Sunday roast. Perfectly cooked meat. Veg cooked well and the gravy was very tasty indeed.I ordered the beef and my husband the lamb. This was the best Sunday roast I have had in a very long time. Highly recommended. Service: Excellent. Look forward... More

We stayed overnight in The Bull last weekend and found the staff excellent , attentive and polite , the beer varied and well kept and the food very good indeed. Our room was large and well appointed , very comfortable and the free wifi was appreciated. Breakfast was also excellent with a good choice and a chef prepared to be... More

We popped in for a soup and a cuppa after a lovely walk along the Downs. You would think that a pumpkin soup would be difficult to get wrong but unfortunately it was tasteless apart from an overwhelming taste of cheap stock. Served with bought bread . It's so easy to make your own fresh bread! Even the pot of... More

Was it just because it was Monday? Our lunch-time meal was disappointing both in quality and presentation. I know it's a pub but they do charge restaurant prices! Only 1 choice of bread despite whether it is for dip or sandwich and for the later was it toasted to 'freshen' it?! No problem there with the charcoaled burger bun but... More

We had dinner here with 8 other people last Monday after spending a very wet - but hugely enjoyable day - at Plumpton Races. The ambience of the whole place was lovely. The beams ... the smell of of wood smoke ... and the welcoming staff. The menu was varied and all the food was very good and excellently presented.... More

This is a pub I used to frequent a lot, in a lovely location. Disappointing to find that, although the food is ok, it is very expensive for what you get and the staff were particularly condescending and unhelpful.

This is one of those "out of town pubs" for Brightonians, with bustling efficient staff. Personally I am disappointed that Harvey's ale is no longer available. Food is very good but at the upper end of the price range, portions are concise. Always a good atmosphere though.
