We booked with Booking.com and were not informed the booking would not be accepted after 8pm. After taking a wrong turning and manoeuvring the country lanes we arrived to a locked-up house. A young guest lent me her phone to ring the manager and he was quite abrupt and hung up on me after telling me I would not be... More

We had the best time this weekend at Tovey Lodge. We booked last minute and we not disappointed, we are already planning our next visit. We were made to feel welcome immediately and throughout our stay. It is situated 20 minutes or so from the hustle and bustle of brighton and is great to come back to after a long... More

We had an excellent 2 night stay at Tovey Lodge We booked a family room and were nervous; family rooms are often cramped and come with a slight resentment from the owners, but at Tovey Lodge, the room was huge, comfy and the kids' beds were far better than the usual Z beds. Roy and Diane made us and our... More

We had a lovely welcome and were shown to a lovely room; having seen one of the other rooms they are doubtless all good. This is a very nice hotel, beautifully appointed. Breakfast was cooked specially, exactly how you want it. Nothing is too much trouble here, will definitely stay again when in the area.

Absolutely perfect stay at Tovey Lodge! Perfect on all counts - took a trip to Plumpton races for the day and stayed here. Excellent hosts, very welcoming, food was great, comfortable and just a wonderful overnight stay. We recommend this beautiful Tovey Lodge very highly. Thank you! David & Joyce Hamill

We found our stay here a great family getaway in a beautiful part of the world, just far enough away from Brighton to be a perfect base camp for our days out. The owners were so friendly upon arrival and you could tell how proud they are of this place by the way they showed us around the grounds. Breakfasts... More

We had an amazing week in the South Downs and the cottage within the grounds of Tovey Lodge was (almost) the perfect location to base ourselves. We didn't have that much to do with Roy and Diane, the owners, during the week because we were out most days, and when we're on holiday, we don't really want to converse with... More

We had a wedding at Old Pangdean Barn and decided that rather than stay in Brighton (which we regularly do) we'd go for something a bit more rural and also get a more luxurious trip for not much more money. The setting is beautiful and the room (Poplar) was lovely. There's a lot of attention to detail - from the... More

I didn't stay here - I lodged an enquiry online and was phoned back by a gentleman who was very rude when I explained that I had found somewhere else to stay. "So you're not interested in our five star luxury experience then?" He got more and more petulant with me as I thanked him for phoning but explained I... More

Nestled in the South Downs, only a short drive from Lewes and the south coast, this is a delightful bed and breakfast set in 3 acres. At about £170 per night for the upstairs room, this can by no means be considered a 'bargain' place to stay, but the amenities (including an indoor pool, hot tub and sauna) are exceptional.... More
