This hotel was booked for a single nights stay in June , for July 2014. Hotel claimed to have a policy of 1) NOT taking any charge from a credit card prior to actual stay and, 2) they have a '' Cast-iron '' guarantee of FREE cancellation up to 5 days prior to date of anticipated arrival. Regretfully, due to... More

With only a day and a half before our visit to France, we were informed that this hotel had withdrawn from hotels.com and would not honour our booking which had been confirmed by them a month earlier in an email! Obviously a so-called guarantee and confirmation means nothing. As this trip coincided with the D-Day anniversary commemorations, most other places... More

Had an overnight stop here before catching the ferry from Le Havre - and what a great experience! We were warmly greeted on our arrival and shown to our room. This was a charming spacious room and full of character opening onto the delightful courtyard. We confirmed we would take dinner in the restaurant and were informed we had the... More

My wife and I returned to Bec Hellouin for a Valentines treat, having previously owned a second home nearby for several years. We chose to stay at the Auberge and were not disappointed. Although there are a number of house rules and rigid reception and dining room opening times they do not cause great inconvenience. The cuisine is consistently excellent... More

Spent four days here with a great deal that made it brilliant value for money, beautiful village in a good location with loads to see and do within easy reach. The restaurant is lovely and we enjoyed all the menu's, especially the desserts. Would be even better if there was more of a bar area. Only tiny criticism would be... More

Lovely small hotel. We were particularly impressed that they managed to provide hot drinks for breakfast during a power cut following the tremendous storm. They did speak some English but tactfully spoke French doucement so that we could understand. The hotel does have a lot of character, although we felt that no door on the bathroom was maybe not to... We had eaten lunch here a couple of years ago and it was very good. This time we stayed the night in a lovely room with a view over this beautiful village - autumn colours starting! The meal in the restaurant was first-class, genuinely gastronomic. Some people might complain about the portions but if you want an all-you-can-eat blow-out go... More

An overnight stop on our way to south west France, had a huge room, basic but perfectly clean. Great restaurant very very quaint and in a lovely setting in this peaceful village. Will definitely return

An overnight stop on our long drive to The Algarve. A truly beautiful hotel in a historical village setting. Good welcome. Though our French was poor and we struggled to communicate effectively. Quaint rooms and bathroom. Very comfortable. Lovely restaurant with good menu. Would definitely return to further explore the abbey in the Village.

Second visit to this delightful rural hotel/restaurant. Same quiet village, room at rear of courtyard still a good choice and same professional but not unfriendly service. Dinner was of a very high standard (but not cheap at c 40euros) with an added element of surprise as my menu decoder did not help with many of the resolutely French descriptions! Hope... More
