This property is no where near the beach and the parking situation is awful. Walking the 1/2 mile from the motel (let's call a spade a spade) room to the self parking is exhausting. Parking for free behind the property is a no brainer. The grounds are impressive and the pool areas and common areas are much nicer than the... more

Booked one night stay on the 4th of July for a deluxe golf course view with balcony or patio. Was going to book a standard room without a balcony for cheaper, but I thought that being 4th of July, might as well get a nice view and balcony to enjoy the fireworks show. To my disappointment, our "deluxe view" of... more

Great Hotel. We were 3 adults all in our early 30's. We had 2 double beds. Beds were a little on the small side, but room was clean, had a mini fridge and the property was great. we had a small issue with our safe, and it was changed the same day. Wish they provided internet for free... it was... more

We had a lovely room in the Balboa Building with a king sized bed. The grounds were beautiful, the room spotless. The bed was too hard for my husband. We usually stay at the Ayres, whose beds are more comfortable. We choose the Newporter because of the price on Priceline. I called ahead to request a kingsize bed and balcony.... more

I was like some of the others in here after I had read some of the earlier reivews - I was scared of what I would find when we got to the hotel. But my fears were put to rest when I called to request our room preferences. We got everything we asked for. We took our granddaughter with us... more

My 2 kids, my husband and I stayed here for just one night. We arrived early on a Sat. morning and we were happy to see that we could check in, get changed and get to the beach. When we checked in we were told we could park ourselves for $16.00 or valet park for $24, we chose to self... more

We took the advice read and parked on Back Bay Road off Jamboree to save money and found it to actually shorten our walk to our room. I was pleasantly surprised with the friendly staff, clean, large, pretty grounds. The kiddies' burger pool-side for $5 was AWESOME. We stayed 7 nights for $90/night on Priceline. more

We're a couple in early twenties, and thought the staff were generally a bit rude Location not to good, especially if you don't have a car - beach is about 40 minute walk if you use the balboa island ferry to cut through. But access to Fasion island is easier Swimming pools very good, and were empty when we were... more

A beautiful hotel. Well kept outdoor pools, friendly staff, and scenic views. The rooms open up out-side, and many of them have balconies. The room had probably the largest flat-screen TV I've seen in a hotel room. But, the best part here is the proximity to Balboa Island. It was about a ten minute walk, or a two minute drive.... more

I was quite pleased with the hotel overall - the grounds, accomodations and staff, especially after reading some of the posted reviews. I'd phoned the front desk a week prior to my arrival to request a room in the main buidling as I was traveling alone. I found my room to be spacious and well-appointed. While the wait staff in... more
