Page Mesa Trail is about 13.2 miles long and located near Page, Arizona. The trail is great for mountain biking and normally takes 1-3... more » hours.
This is a great 11-mile circumnavigation of the town of Page following the mesa shelf around the town. The Chamber of Commerce has maps, but if you can't get there when they are open, you can poke around and find the trail. This is what I did.
I rode from the Days Inn Hotel and went up Haul Road looking for the trail, eventually getting over to Lake Power Blvd. which runs through the center of town and is the main thoroughfare. I had trouble locating the trail on the south side of town initially, but eventually found it. It is not well signed. The best place to begin is near the public library just to the east of the parking lot. Look for rocks lining a path by the fire station to get started. Expect to do some route finding, but it is worth it.
Some guides say the trail is technical and difficult, but it is not. Sand might be a problem on the east side near the airport boundary, but otherwise it is an easy trail. Go counter-clockwise to avoid doing a lot of uphill pedaling, especially if there is a head wind from the south (as there usually is).
There are some funky transitions of the trail through some housing and other spots like the golf course, but you will still have a good ride. I never saw anyone else.
There is no bike shop in Page so be prepared with all you need for repairs, or flats. Page needs to get on board with mountain biking and have some options and rentals.
