Points of Interest
1. Parking Lot at Start
Turn west into parking lot. Unlicensed vehicles can unload here; however, there is a fee to park. Continue west across railroad tracks, then turn south.
2. High Shelf Road
Road climbs high above Highway 191 with great views looking south. Watch for lots of mountain bikers.
3. Camping on Left
Road on left goes to Bride Arch and secluded camping.
4. Gooney Bird Rock
Pass distinctive Gooney Bird Rock on left.
5. T Intersection
Bear left here for Gold Bar Rim Trail. Right uphill goes to Gemini Bridges Trail and Bull Canyon, both available as FunTreks eGuides on EveryTrail.
6. Monticello Rock
Turn left at another "T" intersection. Rock formation ahead is called Monticello Rock.
7. Rusty Nail on Right
Extreme Jeep Trail called Rusty Nail goes right here. Stay left as Gold Bar Rim gets more difficult.
8. Giant Ledge
You'll drop down a giant ledge. Its more difficult driving in the other direction if you have to come up it.
9. Mushroom Rock
After skirting cliff edge above Gold Bar Canyon, you'll circle around distinctive Mushroom Rock.
10. End of Gold Bar Rim
Trail ends here at another big ledge. After this point you are on Golden Spike. Walk uphill a short distance to see outstanding overlook.
