Points of Interest

1. Trailhead Gate

Not much snow visible but the road behind us just 20 feet away was well covered for us to go up on skins.

2. Through the woods

Through the open woods towards the ridgeline.

3. Pelican Butte 3-27-10 7.jpg

Emily following me through some thick trees on our way up the Northeast Ridge.

4. Finding Snowmobile Tracks to Follow

Following snowmobile tracks up the Northeast Ridge. Without them it would have been slow going through the fresh snow.

5. Views of Klamath Lake

Looking down to the south at Klamath Lake from a clearing.

6. Pelican Butte 3-27-10 25.jpg

Yes, as Emily demonstrates here, it is hard to go down hill with skins on.

7. Approaching the Final Ridge

Looking up the ridgeline towards the summit.

8. The Summit

9. Look Back at tracks

Looking back up at our tracks down from the summit ridge through fresh powder on Pelican Butte. From here just follow the general ascent route back to the forest service road then cruise back to your vehicle.
