Points of Interest
1. Galehead Trailhead
$3 per day to park here. If it is wintertime you may have to walk the entire way down the road to get to this trailhead as it will be closed. That's what I did.
2. Ascending along the river
Some views of the trail heading up to the AMC Hut
3. Trail Junction
Head climbers left up to the AMC hut and to the summit of Galehead. You'll return back here to continue west along the ridge towards Garfield.
Nestled between South Twin and Galehead this hut has some great views.
5. The summit of Galehead
The 4,024 foot summit of Galehead with great views towards the Twins and down to the AMC hut.
6. Summit of Garfield
This 4,500 foot peak has great views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness including Franconia Ridge and the Bond Range with Owl's head below between.
7. Western Trailhead on Rte. 3
This is the trailhead at the end of the hike. If you choose to leave a car here it is also $3 per day.
