Sugarloaf and Spaulding

Climbing up the ski slopes of Sugarloaf for great views and then heading over to the ridge to bag Spaulding too.

Tips:  To get to the Sugarloaf Ski area take ME-27/16 from I-295 and follow the many signs for the resort area.

Points of Interest

1. Sugarloaf Ski Area

Park here in the ski area and head on up the ski slopes towards the summit.

2. Summit of Sugarloaf

Perhaps you can time your return around sunset like I did. It would be easy to return down the ski trails even in the dusk.

3. Ridge Trail to Spaulding

Pretty thick in places. Check out the monument I passed in the attached photos.

4. Spaulding Mountain Summit

Again, at 3,988 this is one of those that made the NE 111er 4,000 footer list before it was actually determined more accurately to be just under 4k. Return the way you came.
