Overview:
Lake Casitas East Walking Trail is about 3.5 miles long and located near Ojai, California. The trail is great for walking and normally ... more »takes 1-3 hours.
This is a nice 7 mile round trip walk that can be shortened if desired. It begins at the on-street parking area adjacent to Lake Casitas. Walk into Lake Casitas campground (free for walk-ins). Head South through a portion of campground to the marina parking lot. From the marina parking lot head east to the dam. At about mile 1.5-2.0 the pavement will end and you will pass by a gate at the dirt access road to the dam. Continue walking East to the dam, over the dam and South to the end of the dirt service road. A bench and maybe a picnic table will be at the end of the service road.

Tips:
This campground is an excellent place to walk in and explore. Since it's free to walk in and there are probably 10+ miles of paved sur... more »face, you can get a good walk in, have access to restrooms and a small store if needed. This walk is very quiet once you head South at the dam. There are no restrooms
once you leave the paved road. Park rangers ask that you be back on the
paved surfaces by sundown. Lake Casitas is a "No body contact" lake. So, you cannot get in the lake to cool/wask off. Also, don't walk around with open beer or soda cans or the yellow-jacket bees will swam your can. (I've been here probably 100+ times in 16 years and never been stung or attached by bees).
FYI ... Have kids that like water? Between June and September, the lake offers a water park for kids. they even have a "lazy river" for them to float around on. The water park does have an entrance fee.
