Manila, a city of more than 10 Million people. It is one of the largest and fastest growing places in the world. Spend some time here ... more »and you will know it. It's busy, traffic is insane, people everywhere and a massive Call Centre Industry has turned it into a 24/7 city. Ortigas is one of the key business districts and the base for my time whenever in Manila.
This is a often considered just a place to come work and often Manila is overseen for what it can offer in the downtime. It's not easy to get around but make the effort and you will be well rewarded.
Sundays are great days for getting out and about with traffic significantly lighter. With a strong family based culture locals often stay home on Sundays or head to church services and don't start heading out to later in the day.
My guide is for a simple but varied day trip out, utilising local taxi. They are cheap and safe (I always travel with others) and the best alternative considering I would never even contemplate driving here.
This guide combined market shopping, a historic walk, lunch on traditional Filipino food, a cool bar stop and some super ice cream to end the day. Simple, but as my guest told me, very enjoyable. less «
