2. Santa Ana, El Salvador

Also, since it is the number 1 weekend destination for the wealthiest Salvadoran families, you will be in awe with the beautiful houses that surround the lake's shore. 4. Juayua Gastronomic Festival

| Every Sunday in the Parque Central of the colonial town Juayua, there is a gastronomic festival which features a wide variety of typical and international cuisine. This is a great experience to try very different kinds of food: from the traditional Pupusas, to grilled armadillo or "cuzuco", to "Yuca con chicharron". If you want a wide variety of traditional dishes, visit this unique town and revel in the tastes of El Salvador. Juayua is also famous for its wicker products, such as baskets and furniture. |

| Be sure to visit the beautiful colonial town of Suchitoto where you will find the peace and quiet you have been looking for. 6. Crafts Towns

| Not far from San Salvador are the picturesque towns of San Sebastian and Ilobasco. Their people survive mainly from making traditional crafts. San Sebastian specializes in making woven products, such as the most comfortable hammocks you will ever lie in. Ilobasco is famous for making mud figurines, which are representative of life in El Salvador. The people are very friendly, like all Salvadorans. |

San Salvador is a very cosmopolitan Central American city which offers all the ammenities of a modern world-class destination. Its best hotels include a Radisson, Hilton Princess, Hotel Presidente, Hotel Real Intercontinental. There are also smaller, cheaper hotels which are just as good. There are two museums, both very good. The Museo de Arte, or Museum of Art has an amazing collection which you have to admire. 8. Restaurante El Bodegon

| El Bodegon is a delicious Spanish Restaurant. They have a very good wine selection and very famous dishes, for which Salvadorans know the restaurant quite well. Be sure to try the Gazpacho, Cayos a la Madrilena, and Calamares en su Tinta (they are not usually on the menu but make sure you ask for them: amazing!!) |

9. Alo Nuestro / Abajo Lounge

Alo Nuestro is an international restaurant which uses Salvadoran flavors to produce the most delicious gourmet dishes. Make sure you try the Pollo al Chipotle, Sopa de Tortilla, and the house-made exotic fruit sorbets. Expensive!! The restaurant's bar is called Abajo, and is a very nice and upscale lounge with some of the best drinks in the city. They use local fruits to give international drinks their very own twist. (They also serve normal drinks!!) Make sure you try this lounge. |
