Food, food, food! Oh, some walking and a river cruise breaks up the food!

Ave price: $393
Boutique hotel- some rooms have a view of the city or the lakeshore. Great rooftop dining.
Foodies know to go here for high-end Thai food. Go for the chef's tasting menu.
Away from the maddening Michigan Ave. crowds, pop in here for this gem. There's fabulous view of the lakeshore here.
Walk to the end of the pier for another awesome city view. Worth the effort.
6. Marshall Field's
Finish off shopping in the Loop with a meal at the 6th floor Walnut Room or food court. Don't get me wrong- the food is top notch.
The newish Philippine reef is well worth the extra $. Afterwards, take a walk around the musuem campus for more unique Chicago views.
No visit to Chicago is complete without a meal at one of the popular deep dish places. It pains me to share this secret. Due is sibling to the eponymous Pizzeria Uno. You'd never know by the quality. You aren't in the suburbs anymore!
Satisfy your sweet tooth with Oreo pancakes or your savory side with a crab melt or omelette. Go early or endure a looooong line on the weekend.
Tons of fun shops to browse in. My favorite city neighborhood.
12. Chicago Architecture Foundation
Reserve early for their river tours! Their docents lead you on a cruise of the river, through the locks, and a spin on Lake Michigan. Their walking tours are informative as well.
13. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL
If you have access to a car, you must drive up and down LSD for more amazing city views. No car? No problem, pick any part of LSD to walk, bike, run, rollerblade. I can spend hours along the lake or laze at North Ave. beach watching the volleyball leagues.
Set in another great neighborhood, this is a free activity. The arboretum near the zoo is also free.
15. Garrett's Popcorn Shop
Our tradition is to stop by Garrett's and get a caramel corn and cheese corn. mmmm
Try their fru-shi. Crazy but delish.
17. Cousin's Fine Turkish Dining
Their zuccini pancakes make me pine for this place. I used to live around the corner from this gem. More of a local's place, but the food is just as satsifying as any trendy Chicago joint.
