The places I recommend to visit in Nigeria

  • Explore locations featured in this Trip List: Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Jos
  • Category: Recent trip
  • 1. Lagos
    Lagos, Lagos State

Busy African city, densley populated, no other airport like it, acadas, buses, cars that should be on the scrap heap, traders that sell you anything .......all fantastic, need to see it to believe it.

  • 2. Abeokuta, Nigeria

Visit Olumo Rock, it became the first Nigerian tourist destination in 2005......get to free climb at the top and listen to vodoo stories. Visit Abeokuta market, jiu jiu section, i've never seen anyting like it.

  • 3. Badagry, Nigeria

Slave route, point of no return for the slaves, visit the chief, and visit the King. We managed to get one of the prince's to show us around. Remember to leave the chief a dash even if you pop in to say hello.

  • 4. Kano
    Kano, Kano State

Muslim city of the north, Emir's Palace, the museums, dye pits (spot the man in the Bradt guide!), Dan Hausa house - the man will come and give you personal guided tour, the gramaphone wasn't working when we were there but he may have fixed it by now......Dala Hill for sunset, lovely.

  • 5. Abuja
    Abuja, Abuja State

Zuma rock with the face.....spooky......the deserted hotel next to it.....even spookier......Usuma Dam very nice and at Blakes good bbq fish.

  • 6. Jos
    Jos, Plateau State

All i remember is good fruit and authentic Nigerian restaurant that is popular with locals - huge portions and cheap ish.
