Things for all ages to do in the greater San Diego Area with an emphasis on the arts, outdoors, and kids. Note that the obvious choices of Sea World and the San Diego Zoo are left out of this list.
Over 2100 acres packed with science, art, cultural, and industrial museums. It's landscaped with more than 8 kinds of gardens and offers a world famous zoo, a carousel with handcarved animals and handpainted murals, and a ride on a miniature train. Sports buffs can get physical using the gymnasiums, sports complexes, lawn bowling, play areas, and trails. While art fanatics can visit craftsman's workshops, indoor/outdoor/in the round theater performances, puppet shows, and symphonic/dance performances.

The Museum of Making Music is a journey through a century of musical instrument innovations that helped shape American Popular Music from the 1890s to now. It includes over 500 vintage instruments on display, hundreds of audio and video examples at the push of a button and an interactive area where visitors can play on a variety of hands-on instruments.
Get in the water for scuba lessons, tidepooling at Hospital Reef, snorkeling in the Cove, nude sunbathing at Black's Beach, and surfing at Windansea/Bird Rock. Otherwise take in the views from Scripps Park, dine at some posh restaurants, browse the fine art galleries, and shope the upscale boutiques/malls.
It's like a toned down adult's amusement park with over 50 attractions in 7 themed areas. Attractions include water rides, coasters, free play areas, and interactive or themed rides abound. It's mostly designed for kids 11 and under and is much more than just Lego constructions of real world things.
5 miles of beach and boardwalk where you can get stoopid with the students and dropouts of SDSU. The scene for booty dropping, beer drinking, and eyeball popping collegiates. Go and get you some.
