It's all here at Dream Chase - a Thoroughbred rescue and retirement facility. Visit a working farm, educate yourself on the life span of the race horse and what happens after they leave the track. Stay and enjoy the warm hospitality of your hosts at the bed and breakfast, tour the paddocks and get to know these beautiful champions.

5. The Chop House
Excellent steaks, friendly service, responsible management - hardly ever a wait = even on Keeneland meet days they will fit you in - excellent dining experience!
Ave price: $181
8. Things on 3rd
Cool and funky little shop with lots of kitsch - LOVE the experience of designing your own handmade bracelet with various crystal and silver initials and symbols - it's 60's San Fran all over again at this cool shop where you can buy everything from paper flowers to jewelry to statioinary to lunch boxes.
10. Joseph-Beth Booksellers
AWESOME bookstore located in the Mall at Lexington Green - 2 stories of volumes galore, a cafe and plenty of nooks to duck into and get lost...best book store we have been to in AGES.
Ave price: $180
12. SONIC
Yes, it's a chain but in the north - NO SONIC - we love the servers on rollerskates and the old school bacon cheese burger but what makes us drive through again and again are the YUMMY fruit slushes made with real FRUIT. Try the berry lemon. You will be happy you did - oh, and the coconut shake!
13. RUTH HUNT CANDIES
DO NOT LEAVE LEXINGTON without trying these sinful treats = located just off Richmond Rd in an ugly pink building - sorry! These are OLD SCHOOL delights. You must try to Kentucky Pull Candy - just like Grandma used to make and the Bourbon Balls. Oh, and the Blue Monday bars and the carmels and the...just try it all! OH, official candy store of the KY Derby - how can you go wrong? YUM.
15. PIN OAK STUD
A working horse farm, home to Champion stallions Maria's Mon - sire of Monarchos, KY Derby winner, Broken Vow and Sky Classic - this is truly a wonderful place. BY appointment only and call WAY ahead during breeding season and Keeneland meet and sales - they treat the common folk like royalty. On our visits, we were treated to a driving/walking tour of the stallion barn, the mare/foal faciltiy and the training barn. Nancy, our host could not have been nicer nor more informative. We cheer on Pin Oak bred horses as often as we can in part to our wonderful treatment we were given. If you wish to visit a true working horse farm where the needs and welfare of the horse are truly considered, visit Pin Oak. Located off RT 60 just outside of Versailles.
17. The Secretariat Center
Located on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park, this is the center of operations for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation in Kentucky. Visit to learn how you can sponsor or adopt an off the track Thoroughbred.
18. The Horse and Barrel
Cozy little English pub adjacent to DeSha's with lots of imported and domestic brews and woody British inspired decor. Across from Triangle Park.
Ave price: $145
