1. Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino

Ave price: $282
One of the new style and extremely nice pokerrooms in town! For glamour, good ambience and medium-to-high stage poker then head to the Venetian and put your greenbacks on the table. Best games are Texas Hold 'Em, both No-limit & Limit games

While around this end of the Strip then also a must see is the ultra chic Wynn Casino & Resort. Besides playing cards here then you can satisfy your taste for high living with people watching as well as visiting the Ferrari showroom ($10 admission for those who don't yet have their own Ferrari or Maserati, this writer included). In any case well worth the bucks during a break from the tables. Also if you feel like buying something from the adjoining Ferrari store then there's a catch, namely ask for a voucher from the showroom with which you can have $10 off from purchases over $50 (and almost everything is over this paltry sum here!) in the store. So, if you crave for that red Ferrari shirt then this is the way to see those 10 cars as well

Want High-stakes poker? Then head for the Bellagio. The other super-nice pokerroom in town with plenty of tables & action. Play Hold 'Em from limits of $10-20 up or even 7-card stud with limits $20-40. I personally liked the games here, service is good and atmosphere very nice. Only thing I lament is leaving several hundred dollars behind as my lucky opponent hit his 2-outer on river. Oh well, that's just life...
Ok, not exactly poker I admit but needed a break from the tables and this show from Cirque du Soleil did the trick. KA runs at the MGM Grand (which has a lousy pokerroom, by the way...) and blows you away with acrobatics and the moving central platform which turns vertical on several occasions. Music is very nice too, so I highly recommend this show to everyone. Just book your tickets early
Back to Poker. You like lower limits games? Maybe even some 7-card stud?? Then Mirage pokerroom is your place as they have several lower limit games, including $1-5 spread limit 7-card stud. Also $5-10 limit variety runs every now and then. But back to that $1 game which comprises of ageless (read 65+ years) players who've seem to have been in the same seats for weeks in a row. Just kidding, but was watching these guys and their rock tight game for a while. Should be fun if you want to play 7-card stud as Mirage as about the only place that really has a game going on at these levels. Other than then Hold 'Em supply is stable as well as daily tournaments. I like the laidback attitude here even though the cocktail service could be little faster
6. Casino at the Flamingo Las Vegas
What is Vegas without the Flamingo? Less pink, definitely but also lacking the longtime landmark. Poker here is smaller but what it lacks in size then it brings back with the "wild" playing styles of the various players. This is the place to play some No-Limit Hold 'Em if you like to have fun, drink and chat with the other players. No rocktight players here, please! So, grab a beer, sit back and grab that pot with your 9-4 off-suite ;-)
Again, once you've done the all-nighter at the poker table and need something to do for the next morning then I'd recommend taking a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon. Especially if you happened to collect few extra hundred $$$'s from the table as this is expensive fun. Be prepared to dish out $200-300 for 3,5 hrs of fun flying over Vegas, to Lake Mead, over Hoover Dam past the ridges to the Canyon itself and then diving into it and following the Colorado river until you land for a break of Champagne & sandwiches. Very nice & truly awesome views that you need to experience once in your lifetime!! For those with fear of hights then this ride is not too bad, just don't take this trip on the worst hangover morning ;-) I used Papillon tours which was very nice and highly recommendable. There are at least 4 other companies organizing these tours, so shop (browse) around and see where the deals are

The Aladdin, soon-to-be Planet Hollywood is a decent place to play poker again, especially when they have a table open for Mixed games. That's tremendous fun, so go over and check if they have something running. Best times naturally are Thu-Sat nights. Other than that then basic Hold 'Em games await you here too
Last but not least then New York - New York. Actually did not play a round of poker here at all (could not even find the pokerroom...) but was just recommending the Coyote Ugly bar with those nice dancing barmaids. This is a great place to grab several beers with the guys and let loose with their trademark tune. Just beware of the crowds as this is a 'place to be' rather than a place to grab a beer. Anyway, loads of fun and very much worth the visit for the males in your travel group. Ladies are welcome too, as always. Cheers!
