New Smyrna Beach.
New Smyrna is a quiet little town 15 minutes south of Daytona Beach. It has a family atmosphere, kid friendly (and romantic) restaurants, comfy little spas and quiet inns and hotels. This is the area to come to 'get away from it all' and feel rested when you return home.
This town is a great place to have as a base. During the day -take the beach in. It is perfect for families w/ children.
A romantic restaurant in town would be Kelsey's Riverview on the Intracoastal Waterway. You can see beautiful sunsets and boats glide by while you eat or drink, inside or outside. Another great NSB institution is JB's Fishcamp in Bethune Beach off A1A. Great sunsets & seafood on the Intercoastal as well. A few nice family restaurants would be The Beacon (B/L/D)and Vincenzo's (D only) both located on Flagler Ave.; Clancy's Cantina (L/D) on 3rd Ave
A fun thing to do at night is the "Flagler Crawl" as the locals call it. On Flagler Avenue there are a few fun bars w/ live music that is actually good & are reasonably priced cocktails. The typical crawl would start at Breakers on the beach, then to the Flagler Tavern around 8:30 (band starts around 9:15) & end the evening at Traders.
For a mellow, rainy day or while the racing side of the family visits Daytona, Riverview Spa on Flagler Ave is a wonderful little spa (no, I do not work nor know these people personally) to relax and watch the world fly by. Go to

2. Daytona Beach, Florida
Daytona - play on Daytona Beach, night clubbing & dinners out. Daytona is more of a party town by comparison. I would suggest this city for Spring Break, racing & having fun w/ friends. This is also a good place for couples.
3. Daytona International Speedway
World Center of Racing is a short ride north from New Smyrna. You can do Richard Petty Riding Experience, attend races, visit Daytona USA (DUSA) & take a tour of the track.
