Contains a lot of wonderful art! Specific to Spanish art they have several pieces by Goya, el Greco, Picasso, Dali, and Miro. They also have a nice pre-columbian exhibit. www.artic.edu
Aside from a fun place to visit, the Shedd Aquarium has an "Amazon Rising" exhibit which features life along the Amazon River in South America as well as a "Caribbean Reef" with sea life from the Caribbean. www.sheddaquarium.org
Best place for Spanish tapas. Fun and authentic atmosphere! www.cafeiberico.com/
No need to go to Mexico. Get off the L blue line at 18th street and you'll feel as though you've crossed the border. Taquerias, panaderias, mercados, the works!
5. Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum
The Museum defines the Mexican culture as "sin fronteras" (without borders) and presents the Mexican culture from ancient times to the present and how it has manifested itself on both sides of the border. Admission is free. www.mfacmchicago.org/
Super-cheap and just about as authentic as you can get this far north. Located at 1515 W 18th St. Fast, friendly service. Brightly decorated interior and exterior. Just up the street from the 18th street stop on the L.
