  • 1. Dewey Destin Seafood
    Dewey Destin Seafood, Destin

Fresh seafood - outdoor waterside dining. We were referred to this restaurant by friends familiar wih the area. Our understanding is that this is operated and run by one of the original Destin families and that they still own the fishing/shrimp boats bringing in the catch. During the day, we heard you can sit at the tables and watch the boats come in and get unloaded. We, however, dined there at night time. We had to wait in line to order, but it's worth the wait. We had the fried shrimp baskets - about $14 - which is a great value when you consider it's fresh caught, freshly prepared AND comes with an abundance of shrimp (about 12 each basket) and sides. We would rate this a "Don't Miss" dining experience!

  • 2. Helen Back Restaurant/Bar - Okaloosa Island

Great Pizza - Interesting Atmosphere. Traditionally known as a "biker's bar", this place was College Football central during Labor Day Weekend. We were referred there for the Pizza - which was not only excellent, but highly inexpensive. (If you know Atlanta, GA - think Fellini's Pizza crossed with the Vortex.) Atmosphere is comfortable, although loud, with a number of television screens, pool tables, darts, air hockey board, and fooz ball. It's a seat-yourself environment, and tables can be a little hard to grab. But overall - would definitely return.

  • 3. Funky Little Blues Shack - Destin, FL (next to Graffiti's)

Live Music - Listening Room - Bar. We met some friends here after hours for some live music and drinks. Eclectic atmosphere - all art on the premises is for sale. Intimate space allows for easy listening of the musicians. Unusual copper coated tables to hang out at. Primmarily locals.
