Great restaurants and meals I have known...

  • 1. Zelo
    Zelo, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Fantastic smoky and moody ambience, with loads of talk and laughter to lighten the place up. Truly knowledgeable waiters etc, and impeccable quality of food. Seared Tuna in the evening was perfect, pasta at lunch just right, wines well described and the whole experience was fun and friendly. Not a romantic place, just a fun quality venue for good food.

  • 2. Brunello Restaurant, London

Not a standard hotel restaurant by any means - a serious Italian to rival Quo Vadis and Daphne's - and potentially Locatelli. I thought the head waiter was charming, introduced himself with a handshake and was considerate the whole time. The home-made tagliatelle was great, the Tagliata di Manzo was as fresh as it could be, just seared, and on rocket, and beautiful to squish and savour. And that was just the set lunch (and I never normally do "set" stuff).
