Love to shop in Quebec City!

Aug 28, 2006  Whenever I visit an area I spend at least one day checking out the local shopping. Actually, that is not exactly true I spend more than one day not just checking out the shopping....I am usually buying stuff....a lot of stuff!!

My very favorite stores in Quebec City.

  • 1. Boutique Pauline Pelletier
    http://www.paulinepelletier.com/

This is my favorite boutique in Quebec City. It is known for it's hand made ceramic items. It also has a great selection of jewelry, some of it coming from France, plus many other very unique items. It is great to pick up an unusual gift or a lovely item for yourself or your home. There is not a single thing in this store that I do not love. The staff is always so helpful and kind. It is one store that I always make sure to visit when I am in Quebec City! I must make mention of their lovely window displays, that are impossible to walk by without going inside.

  • 2. Loiseau du Paradis
    http://www.quartier-petit-champlain.qc.ca/eng/loiseauduparadis/

This gorgeous store is a close second to the above mentioned store. It has a wonderful collection of crystal jewelry, made by local artisans, some of which are not available anywhere else. There are items in this little shop that range from home decor accessories, giftware and other very unique objects. The lady that works in this store is so very helpful and so kind. She even remembered my husband and myself from our previous visit. This store is definitely worth going to. It is just lovely in every way!!

  • 3. Boutique Claude Berry Inc.
    http://www.sidestep.com/travel-guides/shopping-center/north-america/ca...

Located at 6 Cote de la Fabrique, this is another outstanding boutique in Quebec City. This shop is known for it's imported Gien china from France. It also, has a nice assortment of Limoges items. This is the first boutique I found when we started visiting Quebec City, and that is the reason it is very dear to me. We make certain to stop in at least once while we are in the city, to add another piece (or two) to our Gien china collection. There is a very kind, knowledgeable lady who works here, who is always ready to help you in any way she can. I would recommend a visit to this boutique if you like fine china.

  • 4. Au Royaume du Pere Noel

I have to admit I have been in my share of Christmas stores, and this is without a doubt the nicest one I have ever visited. Located at 12 COTE DE LA FABRIQUE, this store is packed from floor to ceiling with every type of Christmas decoration imaginable. The imported glass ornaments from Egypt are truly stunning. Not to mention the variety of gorgeous Christopher Radko objects they have. It is impossible to be in this store, any time of the year and not be excited about the thoughts of decorating for Christmas. The owner and his staff are very pleasant and so helpful. If you like Christmas decorations and would like to get something a little different and very special I would highly recommend this store!

  • 5. E. Laurent Chocolatier
    http://www.el-eddylaurent.ca/

A few minutes drive from downtown Quebec City, in Sillery on Maguire Street, you will find E. Laurent Chocolatier. Do not let the name fool you as there is so much more to this boutique besides their specialty chocolates. It has some of the most distinctive giftware and home accessories I have ever come across, anywhere. I bought a lovely set of imported tea cups and I believe they are not available anywhere else in Canada. It was very difficult to narrow down my purchases as there were so many items in this store and everything was just beautiful. They have a large assortment of home accessories such as china, kitchen gadgets and similar objects that as well as being unique are very useful. I purchased a few candles in this boutique, that I have never seen anywhere else in my travels. I am really looking forward to going back to this store, as I just discovered it a few weeks ago. I must mention the staff was very helpful, polite, and really went out of their way for us.

  • 6. J.A. Moisan
    http://www.jamoisan.com/english_history.html

If you enjoy finding unique grocery stores, I guarantee you will not find one more unique than J.A. Moisan. It is 135 years old and it feels like it when you enter the premises. What a truly awesome place this is. It has a display of old cans and grocery items that are so interesting, it is worth going there for that alone. There are so many items in this store from the regular items you expect to see in grocery stores from Italian candies and cookies and so much more. I would have liked to spend much more time in here, but sadly when we were there it was getting ready to close up for the evening. I can not imagine ever going back to Quebec City and not going back to this historical shop. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Quebec City. It should almost be listed in the attractions section.

  • 7. Le Crac
    http://www.lecrac.com/

Right across the street from J.A. Moisan, is a health food store called, Le Crac. This store is amazing! It has quite a selection of organic items including, different types of crackers, cereals, salad dressing, fresh fruit and vegetables to name a few. On the other side of the store they sell vitamins and herbal remedies of all sorts. We went in with a list and came out with every single item we were looking for. Again, I would highly recommend this shop if you are into organic foods and healthy choices.

  • 8. La Maison Simons

It is such a delight to shop at La Maison Simons department store. It first opened in Quebec City well over one hundred years ago. Simons now has seven stores in Quebec, including the one we shopped at in Place Ste-Foy, on Laurier. It has a wide range of fashion items for women and men, from moderately priced to high end merchandise. If you are pressed for time, you can easily find a great selection of items at this one store. If you are looking for fashions that are very stylish, and just a little bit different, I would absolutely suggest Simons.

  • 9. Oclan
    http://www.quartierpetitchamplain.com/oclan2/

What a store this is if you love clothes shopping. All the latest trends can be found at this fabulous little boutique. The store is well organized making it so easy to find the perfect outfit you are looking for. There is a wide selection of merchandise from jeans, dresses and coats, jackets and a lot more. They also carry the Michael Kors line which makes it worth a visit in itself. I would highly recommend shopping here if you like good quality clothes that will last you a long time and if you like to find everything in the same store. It really is a breeze shopping here! I didn't go upstairs apparently that is where the mens clothes are. The store is on the beautiful Rue du Petit Champlain. I can't wait to shop at this store again!!

  • 10. Le Roquet
    http://www.quartierpetitchamplain.com/eng/leroquet/

If you want to save a lot of time looking for gifts to bring back home to family and friends, here is the place to do it. Le Roquet, has a great selection of good quality t-shirts for all ages and sizes. The t-shirts are all designed in Quebec and they are very stylish as well as made with excellent quality fabric. They really are as good a t-shirt as you can get. The shirts have different sayings on them, they come in black, white and red and some of the shirts have their little logo cat or dog on them. The last trip to Quebec City, we bought our daughter's boyfriend a shirt from Le Roquet, and he liked it a lot. This summer (2007) when we stopped in at Le Roquet, we bought our daughter a t-shirt, a tank top and a hand made purse with a very long strap that is very different. There is a Le Roquet shop on the lower level on the Petit Champlain street, and I also noticed one on Rue Saint Paul, not too far from the Hotel Dominion 1912. You seriously can not go wrong with anything you buy in this store, and it makes shopping for gifts so easy not to mention the prices are very reasonable for what you are getting. I highly recommend this boutique.
