1. Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters

Awesome trip, Not cheap, and all too brief at 4 hours (half hour on canyon floor) but web booking in advance got best deal, and tour went like clockwork (thanks Dieter!) Whole purpose, and highlight, of our trip. $249 per head seems resonably competitive, so $10 fuel surcharge only a minor irritation.

We only went here because two rides at nearby Circus Circus adventuredome were out of action, making their day pass useless, and individual rides too busy and too expensive. The view from 108(?)th floor was breathtaking, the 3 crazy rides at top undoubtedly the scariest I ever experienced. Not to be missed. $29.95 gets you up tower and on all three rides. Compare this to Roller Coaster at New York New York. That costs $12.50 but I cant tell you what its like because after queueing an hour they couldnt fix malfunction (adds confidence on roller coaster!) so I got a refund and left. No compensation from NYNY. Poor. Avoid.

3. Speed: The Ride and the Cyber Speedway at Sahara

Great roller coaster. Short ride but goes like stink, looping loop, stopping vertically before returning in reverse. Think this was $10, and worth it.

What a miracle of construction! Key tours booked on web in advance at $24.95 and picking up from Flamingo Tour entrance was top value day out. Govt tour and exhibits are not so great while there, but perhaps gives good photo opportunity. Take your own picnic as the outlet there is slow and expensive. The 8 hour tour we did was a good chance to see outside Vegas, the stop at Ethel Ms choc factory is no great shakes, and again expensive for choc souvenirs, but a useful extender to the trip.

READ TITLE AS TITANIC ARTIFACTS EXHIBITION. This should be number 2 attraction, cant believe I forgot to post it after Grand Canyon! Loads of actual artifacts retrieved from the debris field are an essential for anyone interested in this great story. Incredible engineering meets catastophic disaster- its fascinating, if a little eerie. Treat it with the respect it deserves and get close to items from one of the most significant events of the 20th century. Compare this to the sister display 'Bodies' at the same site which we didnt view, considering it simply macabre, poor taste and unappealing. Note most free Vegas guide books (eg picked up in taxi cab) save you $2 on admission via a coupon. |
