Amador & El Dorado Winery Drive

1. Sacramento

This is a great drive from Sacramento, whether you are visiting or a local. Plymouth is a 45-60 minute drive from Sac.
2. Plymouth

Start in this cozy little Gold Rush town. Be sure to pick up water and consider packing a lunch to eat at one of the wineries on your trip. If you're coming from Sacramento, use Jackson Highway Rt. 16.
3. Terre Rouge / Easton Winery

Nice selection of Rhone-style wines. Try the Tete-a-Tete -- an easy-drinking light red -- or the Enigma, a Marsanne, Viognier & Roussanne blend.
4. Cooper Vineyards

We especially like their Barbera. The family has been growing grapes for many years, but only recently opened a tasting room. They are small and sell out early.
5. Charles B Mitchell Vineyards

Very down-to-earth tasting room. You may even meet Charles, who is quite a character!
6. Perry Creek Vineyard

Perry Creek offers a great assortment of affordable and fine wines, from under $10 to the $30 range.
7. Wind Walker Vineyards

Located right next door to Perry Creek. My favorite wine is their Barbera.
8. Placerville
Placerville, California
End your drive in Placerville, and hop on Highway 50 to head to Sacrmento or South Lake Tahoe.
