Some great places to kick back, sip a cocktail, grab a bite, catch a view, and enjoy life in San Diego with friends. Great for visitors and locals.
40 stories above the ground this bar/lounge offers a breahtaking birds eye view of the city and ocean--it doesn't get any better than this. The bar is dimly lit with soft lights, the music is always at an appropriate volume for normal conversation, so it a perfect place to get to know someone special. Go any night for a great wine selection and soak in the view!

Cruise Mission Bay on top of this mississipi style steam boat. 6 dollars get you on the boat all day long, with in and out privelleges. My favorite thing to do is watch the stars or the Sea World fireworks from the top deck, which go off nightly at 9:45. The middle deck offers a full bar with a blues/cover band that you can dance your heart out to. After 10pm, only 21 and up are allowed. Board at the Catamaran or Bahia Hotel.

Lahainas is a casual beach bar to drink a beer and watch one the sun disappear behind the ocean. It overlooks the mission beach boadwalk where you can watch plenty of great looking/and interesting people.

Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos plays jazz every Tuesday night in this Downtown Gaslamp club. As you walk your way downstairs you enter a cozy red lounge with plush seating--this bar is classy, great bartenders, great atmosphere, cool downtempo playing. Walk past the bar and enter a fully packed room of music affectionados listening to live jazz. This is the place to be on Tuesday.

After you've enjoyed your day visiting Balboa park various museums and gardens, unwind at the The Prado Patio. This place is a little pricey for food but worth it for the great food and architecture. Best time to come is happy hour. My favorite treat is a pitcher of Sangria with calamari. FYI, the calamari is the best calamari I have ever tasted.
1549 El Prado, At The House of Hospitality
San Diego, CA 92101
This 21 and up themed strip club themed steak place is a must. This is the only place that I actually enjoyed cooking my own food. You'll get a kick out of the sexual double entendres all over the menu. You have to get the menage-a-tini, a HUGE, i'm not kidding really huge, novelty martini meant to be shared by three.
Afterwards take a stroll in the Gaslamp and check out any of the happening nightclubs. My favorites are On Broadway, Belo, Aubergines, Decos.
