Crete with kids and family

We had a wonderful 1 bedroom apartment with a sea view from our balcony. Ample parking in the parking lot. The kids slept in two twin beds in the "living" area, and my husband and I had our own bedroom. A perfect beach is 20 meters away. An excellent bakery is a very short walk away as well as a full service laundry. We ate many delicious meals at the nearest taverna to the apartments, Gylos.

Gorgeous blue green water and shells to collect on the beach. The drive to get there is breathtaking. If it seems windy, go as far to the RIGHT as you can go. It is much less windy at this end of the beach.

On the drive from Falasarna, have lunch at Don Rosario. It is a perfect Italian restaurant. We ate under the grapevine arbor with a view of the sea. We have eaten at many excellent Italian restaurants in San Francisco, and this restaurant serves amazing, fresh food. Telephone in Crete 28240 23781.

When visiting Venizelos Graves in Chania (a must see, even just for the view), have a coffee or drink at Kou Kou Vayia.

Villa Niki in Loutro has huge rooms with amazing views of Loutro. We had a perfect view from our balcony.

For delicious Greek food right along the blue, blue water of Loutro, try Ilios. We had wonderful lunches and dinners there and found it to be better than most in Loutro.

Calm water, perfect for kids. Beach umbrellas and chairs available as well as taverna's.

Set back from inner harbour of Chania, not right on the water. Excellent food, friendly servers.

A shop with olive motif in the products. I got most of the things I brought back to the US at this shop. In the Old Port, Chania on one of the narrow streets.

Absolutely essential guide to Crete. Even though we were with family from Crete, I liked reading more about the places we went to or were going to in this book. No, I don't work for Rough Guide.
