A day at Cape Cod is the Quintessential New England experience. Bike ride to the beach, swim against the waves or play one of the capes many award winning golf courses and polish everything off with a succulent lobster dinner. 1-2 hours from Boston, depending on where in the Cape you go. (Summer)
This idyllic setting is perfect for summertime activities like waterskiing and kayaking. 2 hrs from Boston. (Summer)

Come here for a night of gambling and entertainment. About 2 hours from Boston. (Any time)
Patrons are wowed by Barnaby Evans' fire sculptures along the Three Rivers of Providence. 45 minutes from Boston. (Spring and Summer)
5. Loon Mountain Park
Loon offers some of the better skiing in the northeast, and is only and hour and a half to two hours away from Boston. (Winter)
This is obviously a must for basketball lovers. The Basketball Hall of Fame covers the game's rich history while also offering interactive features to its visitors. An hour and a half from Boston. (Any time)
7. Burlington
This may be cheating (it's more of an overnight trip if you want to make it worthwhile), but Burlington is terrific New England town in northern Vermont. It's beautiful in winter as well as summer, as it is close to many ski mountains and right on the majestic Lake Champlain. Burlington's driving force is unquestionably the University of Vermont. 3.5 hrs from Boston. (Any time)
A great place to take the kids on those days when they have extra-high energy. An hour to an hour and a half from Boston. (Spring and Summer)
Not quite as expansive or glamorous as Six Flags, but this quaint New Hampshire theme park will undoubtedly bring a smile to your kid's face. 50 minutes from Boston. (Spring and Summer)
My favorite theme park growing up, I'm sure kids will love this place, even though it's probably undergone some changes since the last time I was there. 1 hr, 20 minutes from Boston. (Summer)
