Getting Naked in Andalucia / Spain

4.5 of 5 stars based on 5 votes

The best Naturist beaches and resorts in Andalucia

  • 1. Vera Playa Club Hotel
Vera Playa Club Hotel, Vera, Province of Almeria

The only Naturist Hotel in Spain. Good 4 Star beach-front Hotel - Great friendly atmosphere. Nudity obligatory around the pool, elsewhere - optional. Gym, Table Tennis, Crazy Golf + Giant Chess. 2km stretch of Naturist beach + nearby naturist supermarkets, apartment complexes etc. Ideal for a relaxing break, but nothing much to do in the surrounding areas.

  • 2. Playa Cantajarran

Naturist beach near Nerja. Don't expect beautiful fine sand. Bring your beach shoes - large pebble beach. Two good beach bar / restaurants

  • 3. Camping Almanat

Excelent Naturist beach-front Camp Site at Almayate, Torre del Mar. Caravans. tents and log cabins to rent. Outdoor + Indoor pools (why do you close the outdoor pool between 2 & 5 for siesta?). Sauna, Gym, small Cinema, Supermarket and Bar. Leads to beach restaurant and excellent Naturist beach.

  • 4. Guadalmar Beach

Fantastic stretch of fine sand beach right under the flight approach to Malaga Airport. Follow signs for Guadalmar or Parador de Golf. Good beach bar / restaurant. Paragliders, Kite flying etc. Mixed Naturist / Textile at the entrance - fully Naturist to the right. Mostly young Spanish and Families - Great relaxed atmosphere

  • 5. Benalnatura

Small rocky Naturist cove near the Casino at Benalmadena / Torrequebrada. Gets very busy at weekends. Try to avoid the right hand side as you lose the sun mid-late afternoon. Great beach bar run by a Dutch / Spanish Family - Fantastic atmosphere with great music. BBQ area for members. Masseurs during the summer months. Good facilities - clean showers, toilets etc.

  • 6. Puerto Cabopino - The Dunes

Protected Dunes with large stretch of Naturist beach, just past Cabopino Port, close to Calahonda and Marbella. Not so keen on this area. Too many Brits aware that they are doing something very un-British. All a bit too serious and uptight for me. Also, as with any area with Sand Dunes, some unsavoury behaviour in the bushes. Good water sports at the adjoining Andy's beach (Textile).

  • 7. Costa Natura Apartment Hotel
Costa Natura Naturist Apartment Hotel, Estepona, Costa del Sol

This was the first Naturist Urbanisation / Resort in Spain. Just outside the town of Estepona, approx 20 minutes from Marbella in the direction of Gibraltar. Pretty Urbanisation with well kept gardens. Excellent facilities include pool, Hot-tub, Sauna (strange opening times) and a good restaurant. Right on the Naturist beach. Basic apartments - avoid the studios, they are tiny!. Minimum stay is two nights. These Urbanisations are now quite common in Spain with a number up in Vera, Almeria, near the Vera Playa Club Hotel (see item 1). The only problem with these is that they are part privately owned / part holiday rentals. However some of the full time residents seem to think they are in charge and tend to dictate do's and don'ts. Gets a bit tiring after a while. Chill out guys!

  • 8. Camping at Conil

Campsite at Conil, Costa de La Luz (Near Cadiz). Normal site with separate section for Naturists. Swimming pool with dedicated hours for Naturist bathing.

  • 9. Bolonia Beach
Bolonia Beach, Costa de la Luz, Andalucia

Amazing stretch of beach at Bolonia, just past Tarifa. Excellent windsurfing facilities. Mostly young crowd, but tend to keep hidden in the Dunes. Very trendy beach holiday destination. Stay at the nearby Hurricane Hotel, Tarifa.

  • 10. Armona and Tavira Islands

Well, I know these are actually just over the border in Portugal, but these two Islands are well worth a mention. Armona has no roads - you reach it by motor launch - just bring a book - rent a holiday cottage and head for the beach. Not officially Naturist, but you won't see a soul for miles. Tavira has an official stretch of Naturist beach - breathtaking - just like a desert island.

  • 11. Any Time, Any Place, Anywhere !

The great news is that Spain is very Naturist friendly and the law allows you to be naked anywhere in public. They only ask you to respect others and do not disrobe in areas that may cause offense. Therefore you will see it tends to be restricted to official beaches and small coves etc. Believe it or not though you can walk starkers through the streets of Barcelona and you won't be arrested - Honest ! The Spanish are very proud of their bodies and have no hesitation in getting changed on the beach etc. When they protest ( anti-bullfighting etc), they tend to do it with Nude marches, cycle rides etc (see the website therunning of the nudes.com). It's a great place to be - come and see for yourself.
