Take a trip to Waikiki around June 11, King Kamehameha's birthday, (the only North American King), and enjoy non-stop celebrations, most of them free.

  • Category: Perfect weekend
  • 1. Waikiki Prince
    Waikiki Prince, Honolulu, Oahu

The Best one-to-no star hotel ever...immaculately clean, great location, helpful staff, and cheap.

  • 2. Chuck's Steak House in the Sheraton on the beach

Sumptious beachfront dining, early bird special well worth it. Mai-tai's yummy at a happy hour price.

  • 3. Sailboat ride for an hour, $20.

On the beach across from the Hyatt Hotel, take a $20 sailboat ride for a technicolor, panoramic view of Waikiki and DiamondHead. Non-alchy drinks provided. The captain's fine with you brownbagging your favorite brew onboard, from the nearby ABC store, (like 7-11).

  • 4. Hulu, chacha, fox-trot, or moonwalk your way down many blocks of roped off streets to celebrate like a king.

Huge block party, for miles, with various bands on every corner, and incredible pan-pacific asian food vendors.....ALOHA!

  • 5. The Motha of all flea markets

Take a public bus for 2bucks to the Motha of all flea markets. (Mom's wearing a moomoo,of course). Forget shopping anywhere else. Great designer knock-offs. Outstanding take-me-homes.

  • 6. Eggs 'N Things, eggscellant

A must for breakfast, this landmark local's breakfast cafe is "da kind", hawaiian for "the best". Get directions there. Walk if you can, or run; then carbo load for the day. Warning: it's not cheap, around $25 for 2, unless you get there before 9am, for the special. If the line of people waiting is nearly to Maui, ask if you can sit at the counter.
