12 hours in Louisville for Two

Spend an hour walking along the riverfront. Lots of history presented in this beautiful park with plenty of benches to take in the day and water features for kids.

Fun for the family or just a couple walking around downtown.

You can park your card down by the Louisville Slugger museum, put in a few coins and spend an hour or so shopping or in my case window shopping. A lot of the old buildings have renovated storefronts filled with everything from gifts and antiques to derby hats and horse-themed home goods. The streets are safe-feeling before dark and I had no concerns walking down the street.

End your day with a great performance at the Kentucky Center. We booked ahead and got tickets for "Movin' Out" the Billy Joel musicial and it was just terrific. They have artists from Tom Jones, to Willy Nelson, to Bill Maher to India Aria so it is definately worth checking before you go. I was impressed!

Kitchy and wonderful, this restaurant tucked into an artsy part of town is not to be missed. Anytime we drive through, we have to stop and get their famous "Hot Brown" which is to die for. Top it off with one of their yummy deserts or why not a slice of Derby Pie? Very reasonable and perfect for kids. There is usually a wait, but the gift shop and outdoor decorations will keep you completely occupied.
