Great places to enjoy each other and the outdoors
"Sanctuary for the senses." Oldest botanic garden in Texas, includes a large rose garden, Japanese Gardens, and more! Go in the morning to avoid heat. Entry into the Japanese Gardens requires a modestly priced ticket (cheaper on weekdays), but it's worth it! Take a few quarters for fish food.
Cozy little place with good Mexican tamales. Creative variety of tamales that you can't get anywhere else. Locally owned and operated. Located on Magnolia Avenue, which has several other interesting locally owned dining places.
Classy, free museum. Now showing "100 Great American Photographs" through August 20, 2006. A beautiful surrounding (with Air Conditioning) for a hot, Texas afternoon!
European style coffeehouse. Amazing drinks, very yummy snacks and desserts. Friendly, comfortable, free wireless.
Pedestrian friendly area in downtown Fort Worth. Very clean, lots of restaurants, art museums, movie theaters. Make sure to walk by Bass Performance Hall--it's a dramatic sight! Street parking and "Sundance" garage parking is free after 6pm and on weekends.
On the second floor of the hotel, have a seat in the lounge located over the skywalk. Enjoy a good view of downtown, especially at night! Watch the cars, people, and carriage rides go by underneath you. If you go later in the evening, usually the attendants are off duty and you can stay without the pressure to purchase anything.
