Since Boston is such a historic city with so much to offer- what better way is there to learn about the events and see the landmarks that define this great city other than a guided tour by a colonial costumed character. A great time for anyone.
Boston's "Little Italy" as they call it, is home to plenty of businesses, shops and restaurants in this beautiful neighborhood. The North End is definately a place to visit because its quaint and charming all at the same time. Make sure you stop by Mikes Pastry Shop for a sweet treat at a very fair price or lunch/dinner at Boston's Best Pizza to date, Pizzeria Regina's on 1 and 1/2 Thatcher St- You'll thank me later!!
This is Boston's oldest park to date, and America's first Public Garden. Filled with lush trees and beautiful scenery, this landscape is a site not to miss. Take a ride on Boston's famous swan boats or observe the numerous bostonians cross through the garden to get to the city's countless destinations.
4. Faneuil Hall Marketplace
Faneuil Hall is a great place to visit while in Boston because it has numerous eateries that cater to all different types of food, shops galore and if you visit sometime around the afternoon, I guarentee you will see a free show in front of Quincy Market, which is quite entertaining to say the least. You'll see why it is one of Bostons Main Tourist Destinations.
Right near Fanuiel Hall and on the outskirts of the North End is Haymarket, and the reason it belongs on this list is because on the weekend Haymarket turns into a produce haven! Its really fun to witness how many people come to this food filled frenzy, and believe me its some of the freshest food Boston has to offer. Fruits, Vegetables and Fish are what you will most likely find at this outdoor market, oh and its cheap too!!
6. USS Constitution (Old Ironsides)
Boston's most famous ship is a magnificent sight to see and from Tuesday until Sunday the guided tours are FREE! A perfect stop on your budget savy weekend through Boston. You get a walk through tour of this historic ship by an actual sailor. A true Bostonian experience that cannot be missed.
Since Boston is known as the "walking city" why not take a stroll around the Charles River, which has an amazing view of the city. The Esplanade area is home to Boston's famous hatch shell, which is noted for its free concerts, special movie nights and the timeless July 4th celebration. See it for yourself, its an area that Boston takes alot of pride in.
8. John F. Kennedy Museum and Library
One of the most notable presidents of the 20th century is John F. Kennedy and at this facility he is remembered with dignity and honor. It's an amazing set up of 25 exhibits, three theaters and countless historic artifacts from the time of his presidency. Its open daily from 9am-5pm, and for the budget savy traveler, heres a tip - it's free after 4pm.
