'Sons of Anarchy' Harley Davidson Charity Motorcycle Ride

Flew from London Heathrow to Calgary, with coach transfer to Cranbrook. Approximately a couple of hours. Hired Harley Davidson at the Cranbrook HD main dealer. Stayed overnight and departed following morning. Ride east into Alberta to overnight in a hotel in the stunning Waterton National Park, in the heart of Blackfeet country.

Drop south over the border into Montana, and enter Glacier National Park to ride the famous Going To The Sun road. This road is 55 miles long and acclaimed to be one of the greatest rides in the USA. Exit the park to ride into Whitefish for overnight. Well worth paying a visit to the famous Cowboy Ron's museum of all things Western.

Ride south through the heart of Flathead country, around Flathead Lake and past the Mission Range to overnight near Missoula.

Ride south past the Boise National Forest to the town of Banks, and head east. If your mind hasn’t already been blown by the scenery, it will be now! We are now entering the Sawtooth Wilderness, One of the most beautiful mountain ranges in North America-please see the opening scene in Clint Eastwood’s movie Pale Rider. We ride through mountain passes to the town of Stanley(pop. 350 In summer,50 in winter) and stop for lunch. Then back on the Hogs and over the pass to descend on Ketchum-the home of Ernest Hemingway, and the original US ski town built by Avril Herriman of Union Pacific Railroad fame. Ketchum is home to some famous residents-Eastwood, Hanks, Winfrey, Steve Miller and has been voted the No 1 mountain biking town in the USA. Great fly fishing too.

Arrive in idilic Ketchum and recharge your batteries after an amazing journey through the Rockie mountains and their surrounding national forests. The Sun Valley Lodge is the best place to do this with all the amenities required. Well worth a visit. I for one will be revisiting in due course. Excellent facilities, dining, sporting activities, shopping and relaxation. The HD motorcycles were collected by the Cranbrook HD dealership (under arrangement). Coach transfer from the Sun Valley Lodge to Salt Lake City International Airport. Return to Heathrow via Minneapolis.
